Interventional, comparative, open label, single-center study to demonstrate that an early (from 6 months of age) and systematic (every 6 months) screening of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) by polysomnography (PSG) in children with Down Syndrome during the first 3 years of life is associated with an improved neurocognitive development at the age of 3 years.

Correlation Between Optic Nerve Vessel Anomalies, Serum Angiogenic Factors and Renal Anomalies in Down Syndrome Children

In approximately half of individuals with Down syndrome, an higher than normal number of vessels cross the optic disc margin. Investigator hypothesize that early retinal vessel branching occurs due to inhibition of angiogenesis by triplet overexpression of endostatin, an angiogenesis inhibitor encoded on chromosome 21. Since angiogenesis is critical in the development of eyes and other organs angiogenesis depended (specially kidney, brain, and recently described lungs and heart), early branching of retinal vessels at the level of the optic disc would also likely result in abnormal renal and other organs development in these individuals. Investigator wish to determine whether observation of optic disc vessels may serve as an indicator of elevated endostatin levels and other angiogenesis-dependent organs anomalies.

Parents as the Primary Sexuality Educators for Their Young Adults With Down Syndrome

By integrating sexuality and disability literatures, theories, and research methodologies, this study aims to: 1) contribute to the limited knowledge professionals have of parents as the primary sexuality educators; 2) create a resource for parents in order to be sexuality educators for their young adults with I/DD; and 3) evaluate the effectiveness of the Home B.A.S.E. for Developmental Disabilities Curriculum. In order to meet the objectives the study seeks to answer the following questions: 1. What is the effectiveness of a sexuality education workshop for parents of young adults with DS on improving the self-efficacy and attitudes around sexuality and healthy relationships for young adults with DS as well as increase the parent-child communication on sexuality topics? 2. What are parents' concerns that impact their ability to be the primary sexuality educators for their young adults with DS? It is proposed that parent confidence and comfort talking about sexuality topics with their young adult with Down syndrome will increase thereby increasing the parent-child communication as a result of this study.

This study will document the detection rate and false positive rate as well as failure rate of a new prenatal screening approach ('Smart NIPT') as described at www.vanadisdx.com and implemented in an academic laboratory with limited molecular testing experience. Testing will be performed on samples from a general risk pregnancy population, with additional high-risk cases added to improve confidence in the detection rate. Additional characteristics of this non-NGS test such as turn-around time, costs (equipment, training, per test), results reporting, fetal sex, fetal fraction, and quality measures will also be examined.

Effects of Infant Massage on Development of Down Syndrome Babies

The aim of ths study is to know the effects of infant massage in the maturation of the baby with Down syndrome. Scale Psychomotor Development Early Childhood Brunet-Lézine-Revised will be used to measure the maturational development of the baby with Down syndrome . Investigators will analyze two groups of intervention, the experimental group, in which parents will participate and will apply the knowledge learned in the course of Infant Massage and control, which does not receive the Infant Massage course during the study. Babies in both groups will be evaluated twice, at the beginning of the intervention (pretest) and end it after five weeks (posttest). The study population consists of 32 babies with Down syndrome between 4 and 8 months old.
