Filter by:An open-label and single-blind phase 2 study to evaluate the oral microbiology, safety and tolerability of multiple C16G2 Varnish and Strip applications in male and female dental subjects 12-75 years of age. The study will compare multiple study drug administrations of C16G2 Varnish and/or C16G2 Strip in three study arms. In Study Arm 1 eight subjects will be enrolled in an open-label manner and will receive a daily dose of C16G2 Varnish application over 3 days followed by 14 doses of C16G2 Strip administered over 7 days. Following the three C16G2 Varnish applications, each subject will receive 7 days of AM and PM dosing with C16G2 Strip and will be followed for microbiology for up to 2 months after the last study drug administration. Study Arm 2 will enroll 12 subjects in a single-blind manner. Subjects will receive four C16G2 Varnish or Placebo applications over 7 days, followed by 3 additional weekly varnish administrations. Subjects will be followed for microbiology for up to 2 months after the last study drug administration.The treatment allocation will be 1:1 (6 subjects receiving C16G2 Varnish, 6 subjects receiving Placebo). Study Arm 3 will be initiated based on the Sponsor's review of all microbiology data up to two week post last study drug administration from Study Arm 2. If initiated, Study Arm 3 will enroll 6 subjects in an open-label manner. Subjects will receive daily single doses of C16G2 Varnish over 10 days, for a total of 10 doses and will be followed for microbiology for up to 2 months after the last study drug administration.
This study will be conducted to evaluate The Effect of tailored preventive program on caries incidence using International Caries Classification and Management System (ICCMS) at a follow up periods of 3 ,6 and 12 months.
The pulp therapy in primary teeth is designed to eliminate the infection and keep the tooth in a functional state until its natural exfoliation. An important step for the success of endodontic therapy is the final restoration, which must seal the tooth, avoiding new contamination. Thus, this study proposes to carry out a randomized clinical trial with longitudinal follow-up of two years, in order to compare the degree of success of endodontic treatment in primary teeth restored with two different techniques: composite resin (Filtek Bulk Fill - 3M ESPE) or stainless steel crowns (3M ESPE). Success will be measured by clinical and radiographic features of primary teeth treated with the different restorations after 1, 6, 12 and 24 months. Among the secondary outcomes that will be assessed are the quality and durability of restorations and the cost benefit of treatments. Patients who seek the university clinics and require endodontic treatment will be invited to participate. The sample unit is the tooth and these will be randomized in groups through a randomization list created and distributed in sequential opaque envelopes. The envelope will be opened only after the end of endodontic treatment, to ensure allocation concealment. The data will be statistically analyzed using the Stata 12.0 (Stata Corporation, College Station, TX, USA). The longevity of the treatments will be evaluated by estimating survival rates using the Kaplan-Meier method. Differences between survival rates according to the type of endodontic proposed treatment will be analyzed using the log-rank test. All other clinical variables will be analized using Cox regression. The significance level for all analyzes will be 5%.
- The teeth of the patients that meet inclusion criteria will be anesthetized, isolated with a rubber dam. - Cavity opened using conventional high-speed rotary instruments. - The central cariogenic biomass and the superficial parts of the necrotic dentine will be removed with round burs. - Caries lesion will be completely removed in the enamel/dentin junction. - The excavation procedure will be terminated as soon as the soft and wet dentine was removed and the remaining tissue was leathery but not hard on exploring. - A dentinal sample will then be collected from the base of the cavity using sterile spoon excavator as a baseline for bacteriological assessment. - Then, application of either intervention or control agent, another dentinal sample will be collected using a sterile excavator and transferred into sterile tubes and transferred to the laboratory for microbiological analysis. - Filling of the cavity with resin composite restoration. - All clinical procedures will be carried out at the same visit.
The hypothesis to be investigated is that no difference will be found upon comparing resin composite strip crowns and NuSmile zirconia crowns (NuSmile ZR) esthetic primary anterior in restoring anterior primary teeth.

This study evaluates the patient 's discomfort when submitted to partial caries removal through the atraumatic restorative treatment compared to chemo-mechanical caries removal using Papacarie⢠gel.
68 healthy children from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Damascus University who require treatment for their primary maxillary second molars will be randomly assigned into one of two groups: experimental or control groups. In the experimental group, a lidocaine hydrochloride-epinephrine hydrochloride nasal spray will be applied to anesthetize upper second molar before the commencement of treatment. To assess the efficacy of this kind of anesthesia, a specific scale will be used by an external observer after capturing some video files of the performed treatment. To assess the safety of this procedure, vital signs will be recorded before and after treatment. Acceptance of the nasal spray will be recorded based on the child's behavior before and after treatment using Frankl scale. If anesthesia was not sufficient to proceed with the procedure, a rescue anesthesia would be used. Rescue anesthesia consists of an infiltration injection of lidocain hydrochloride 2% with epinephrine hydrochloride (1:100,000). In the control group, an intra-oral lidocaine-epinephrine injection will be applied due to treatment. Safety, efficacy and acceptance will be assessed in the same manner to what is performed in the experimental group.
Objective: To assess which is the most efficient pulpotomy medicament on tooth survival in patients with a cariously-exposed vital young permanent molar regarding: absence of postoperative pain, sinus or swelling, internal/ external root resorption, periapical radiolucency), root maturation and decrease chair side time of treated patient. This study aims to evaluate the clinical effect of CO2 laser on enamel resistance to white spot lesions formation around orthodontic brackets. 25 patients needing fixed orthodontic treatment will participate in the study, the CO2 laser will be applied in a split mouth design around orthodontic brackets in two contrast quarters of mouth in every patient and the other quarters will serve as a control. The white spot lesion formation will be monitored around the brackets during the orthodontic treatment after four and twelve weeks of irradiation with laser.
