NCT ID: NCT06250075 Completed - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Effects of the Use of Probiotics on the Intestinal Microbiota of Patients With Gastric Cancer

PRONIC-G
Start date: December 12, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this randomized controlled, prospective clinical study, composed of 5 groups, G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5 is [Evaluate the intestinal microbiota profile, nutritional, immunological status and inflammatory profile, before and after total or partial removal surgery (gastrectomies) for gastric cancer, in a patient using probiotic supplements.] The main questions it aims to answer are: - probiotics are capable of modulating the immune response and microbiota in cancer patients who will undergo surgery - surgery itself alters the immunological pattern and microbiota of cancer patients Participants will be divided into groups for evaluation and the G1 intervention group will take probiotic capsules. The researchers will compare groups G1, G2 with G3 (negative control group) to see if there are differences between using probiotics or not, in controlling the immune response and if there are significant changes in their intestinal microbiota. Groups G4 and G5 will also be compared, where in these we will only measure the power of the use of probiotics in reducing surgical complications in the postoperative period.

NCT ID: NCT06243497 Recruiting - Glaucoma Clinical Trials

Comparison of Cytokines Profile in Aqueous Humor and Tear Before and After UCP Treatment

Start date: February 1, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss in people aged 50 years and older worldwide, second only to cataracts. Ultrasound Cyclo Plasty was first proposed as a new minimally invasive technique in the 1980 s. In recent years, many clinical studies at home and abroad have confirmed the effectiveness, safety and repeatability of UCP. The ciliary body is the target organ of UCP, and the range and accuracy of intraoperative destruction of the ciliary body are the key factors affecting the success or failure of the operation. The production of aqueous humor is closely related to the ciliary body. The dynamic balance of its production and discharge can affect IOP, and its content can directly reflect the intraocular environment. Besides, tears are easy to collect and can be used for follow-up. Previous studies have shown that various proteins in aqueous humor or tear can provide a basis for the pathophysiological changes of glaucoma, and can also be a potential biomarker for predicting the success of anti-glaucoma surgery. At present, UCP related research focuses on its effectiveness and safety, mainly reflected in three aspects : postoperative intraocular pressure, number of anti-glaucoma drugs and complications, and lack of relevant indicators that directly reflect postoperative intraocular environment changes. The purpose of this study was to reveal the changes of cytokines in aqueous humor after UCP in patients with primary glaucoma, to analyze the possible causes of these factors, and to speculate the effect of their interaction on the surgical effect, in order to increase the predictability of UCP procedure.

NCT ID: NCT06150066 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Microbial Colonization

The Effect of Smoking on Peri-implantitis

Start date: November 21, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

the primary aim of this project is to evaluate the microbiological and inflammatory effect of smoking status and smoking severity on periimplantitis lesions. The secondary aim is to compare the effect of smoking on periimplantitis and periodontal microbiota and inflammation in the same individuals. There will include 96 patients, equally divided into four groups: Smokers with peri-implantitis (n=24), non-smoker individuals with peri-implantitis (n=24), smokers with healthy peri-implant tissues (n=24), non-smoker individuals with healthy peri-implant tissues (n=24). Microbiological and biochemical analyses will be performed on the samples taken.

NCT ID: NCT06109844 Not yet recruiting - Venous Leg Ulcer Clinical Trials

FORCEREPAIR - A Wound Exudate Investigation

Start date: January 30, 2024
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The observational longitudinal study will collect wound exudate from twenty patients with venous leg ulcers. Wound exudate samples are collected using twenty-four-hour collection with polyurethane foam, bandages and the NovaSwab method. Each patient is seen four times where wound exudate and the bacteria microbiome are sampled and wound size is monitored with advanced planimetric tools.

NCT ID: NCT05022992 Not yet recruiting - Cytokines Clinical Trials

Effects of a Single Bout of Resistance Training Session on Hormonal Response in Pre-pubertal and Pubertal Boys

Start date: September 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

: Resistance training induces strength gains in both children and adolescents. Exercise training is linked to anabolic functions through the GH-IGF-I axis. This has been demonstrated in studies showing a higher activity of GH and IGF-I in fitter adolescents and adults. Exercise also stimulates pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) that suppress the GH-IGF-I axis. This has been observed in endurance-type training, while resistance training has received less attention. Boys experience a significant physiological muscle-growth change during puberty that is associated with increases in boys androgen levels. How maturation affects the hormonal response to resistance training in boys is unclear. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to compare the acute effects of a single bout of resistance training on hormones and pro-inflammatory cytokines in pre-pubertal and pubertal boys.

NCT ID: NCT04865510 Completed - Acute Kidney Injury Clinical Trials

Citrate Versus Heparin in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy :

Start date: February 4, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is a prospective, multicenter, open-label randomized trial comparing regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) with heparin-free protocol. The function mode was continuous venovenous hemodiafiltration (CVVHDF) in post-dilution mode. The investigators measured hemodynamic changes at certain time points after starting CRRT (0, 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 hr).Levels of inflammatory cytokine (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10 and TNF-ɑ) were measured at day 1 and day 3

NCT ID: NCT04562376 Completed - Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Trials

High-intensity Resistance Training in People With Multiple Sclerosis Experiencing Fatigue

Start date: August 20, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Fatigue is one of the most frequently reported and disabling impairments in multiple sclerosis (MS) and is associated with activity limitations, participation restrictions and reduced health-related quality of life (HRQL).MS fatigue is thought to be related to the disease itself, where increased levels of inflammatory biological markers (cytokines) are contributing. Resistance training may have an anti-inflammatory effect where a higher intensity is thought to have a more profound effect. Moderate-intensity resistance training is well tolerated in people with MS (PwMS) and can reduce self-reported fatigue. There is, however, a lack of high-quality studies including only fatigued PwMS when evaluating exercise regimes. Furthermore, the optimal dose (i.e. the combination of duration, frequency and intensity) is not known. Our hypothesis is that high-intensity resistance training will have positive effects in fatigued PwMS on functioning (fatigue, mood, activities and participation) and wellbeing/HRQL; and a positive immunomodulatory effect measured by inflammatory biological markers in blood. Further, that high-intensity resistance training twice a week will be superior to once a week

NCT ID: NCT04483271 Completed - Cytokine Storm Clinical Trials

The Effect of Omega-3 on Selected Cytokines Involved in Cytokine Storm

Start date: October 2, 2020
Phase: N/A

NCT ID: NCT04293380 Completed - Down Syndrome Clinical Trials

Amniotic Fluid Ischemia Modified Albumin as a Novel e Prenatal Diagnostic Marker for Down Syndrome

Start date: March 1, 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Down syndrome is the most common genetic disorder in the society that causes mental retardation. Today, screening tests (combined test, triple screening, ultrasonography and age) are performed for the diagnosis of down syndrome for all pregnant women. As a result of screening tests, amniocentesis is performed as a diagnostic test for the group at risk. Chromosome analysis from amniotic fluid requires a 3-week period for chromosome cultures to yield results. Several levels of biochemical markers, such as organic acids and pyridoxine metabolites, have been found to be elevated in the amniotic fluid. The investigators also plan to investigate ischemia-modified albumin, hepatocyte growth factor level in amniotic fluid.

NCT ID: NCT04274348 Recruiting - Atopic Dermatitis Clinical Trials

Staphylococcal Toxins in Atopic Dermatitis and Eczema Herpeticum

STADEH
Start date: October 15, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common chronic inflammatory skin disease. Clinical studies have demonstrated a link between staphylococcal skin colonization and the pathogenesis of AD, but the implication of bacterial virulence factors remains largely uncharacterized. Finally, AD is often associated with herpes simplex skin infections. The aim of this project is to investigate the role of staphylococcal toxins in the exacerbation and maintenance of atopic skin inflammation and in the occurrence of infectious complications such as eczema herpeticum.
