Bupropion Hydrochloride or Patient's Choice for Smoking Cessation in Patients With Squamous Cell Head and Neck Cancer Undergoing Radiation Therapy With or Without Chemotherapy

Start date: January 2016
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This pilot randomized clinical trial studies how well bupropion hydrochloride works compared with patient's choice for quitting smoking in patients with squamous cell head and neck cancer undergoing radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy. Bupropion hydrochloride may help patients quit smoking by enhancing central nervous system neurotransmitters noradrenergic and dopaminergic release. It is not yet known whether bupropion hydrochloride is more effective than patient's choice in helping quit smoking in patients with squamous cell head and neck cancer undergoing radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT02575885 Completed - Healthy Subject Clinical Trials

Nicotine Delivery From Novel Non-Tobacco Electronic System in Smokers

ENDS
Start date: March 16, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This randomized pilot clinical trial studies nicotine delivery from novel non-tobacco electronic system (ENDS) in smokers. Studying the levels of nicotine delivered by various types and brands of ENDS to the bloodstream, and comparing this to the levels delivered from conventional cigarettes (the participant's own brand) may help provide information about the use of nicotine-containing products that may help inform/reform current tobacco policy, practice, and harm reduction approaches.

NCT ID: NCT02169271 Completed - Clinical trials for Tobacco Use Disorder

Acetylsalicylic Acid Compared to Placebo in Treating High-Risk Patients With Subsolid Lung Nodules

Start date: November 21, 2014
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase II trial studies acetylsalicylic acid compared to placebo in treating high-risk patients with subsolid lung nodules. A nodule is a growth or lump that may be malignant (cancer) or benign (not cancer). Chemoprevention is the use of drugs to keep cancer from forming or coming back. The use of acetylsalicylic acid may keep cancer from forming in patients with subsolid lung nodules.

NCT ID: NCT01915810 Active, not recruiting - Healthy Subject Clinical Trials

Physical Activity in Promoting Smoking Cessation in African Americans

Start date: January 29, 2014
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This randomized pilot clinical trial studies the use of physical activity in promoting the discontinuation of the habit of smoking (smoking cessation) in African Americans. Participating in physical activity during an actual smoking quit attempt may work better in helping African Americans stop smoking.

NCT ID: NCT00850954 Completed - Current Smoker Clinical Trials

Project CASA in Promoting Smoke-Free Indoor Air Policy in Mexican American Households

Start date: August 8, 2006
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This trial studies the effect of an intervention program, Project CASA, on smoking cessation and reducing secondhand smoke exposure in Mexican American households. Project CASA, comprising pamphlets and fotonovelas (illustrated storybooks), may provide valuable information to participants on how to improve the air quality in their homes.
