Filter by:COVID-19, caused by the novel Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 (SARSCoV-2), has become a global pandemic. Fortunately, most of the COVID-19 cases confirmed are categorized as mild for whom home- based symptomatic management with monitoring of clinical deterioration is recommended. Despite providing symptomatic management, a therapeutic drug that would limit the course of infection is greatly needed to stop COVID-19 disease progression. Considering the current SARS-CoV-2 epidemiology and the legitimate rash towards appropriate therapies, our study seeks to evaluate the safety and efficacy of low dose aspirin and ivermectin combination therapy in COVID-19 patients.
This study is being conducted to study the use and application of a point-of-care (POC) Covid-19 test developed by Spartan BioSciences and recently approved for clinical use by Health Canada.
INTRODUCTION: As this is a new disease, the short- and long-term consequences for patients with COVID-19 are still unclear. The use of sedatives, as well as prolonged rest, can lead to musculoskeletal damage, including decreased muscle strength and physical function. Thus, rehabilitation after this disease is a key component in continuing patient care. OBJECTIVE: To verify the effects of face-to-face cardiac rehabilitation and telerehabilitation on tolerance to the maximum and submaximal exercise, lung function, fatigue intensity and quality of life of COVID-19 survivors. METHODS: This is a longitudinal, intervention study. Primary outcomes will be maximum and submaximal functional capacity, intensity and impact of fatigue, while secondary outcomes will be lung function and quality of life. EXPECTED RESULTS: This work will bring important information to the scientific community and health professionals, about the best forms of intervention and its repercussions on the surviving individuals of COVID-19.
Honey and Nigella sativa has established antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory roles. So it is planned to test for its prophylaxis
Combined retrospective and prospective cohort study to evaluate the incidence of microbiologically confirmed VAP in mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19. In the retrospective part, microbiological data are based on bi-weekly surveillance ETA. In the prospective part, microbiological data are based on ETA and BAL performed on VAP suspicion. In the prospective part, immunological and virological analyses will be performed on biological samples (blood, respiratory tract) collected from patients at VAP diagnosis.
This is an adaptive, Phase I/II study in 2 parts: Part 1 is to evaluate the Maximum Tolerable Dose (MTD) , tolerance, safety and pharmacokinetics of FB2001 in healthy subjects; Part 2 is to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics and efficacy of FB2001 in patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 disease.
The goal of this longitudinal observational study is to learn about how the COVID-19 has impacted and continues to impact students at the University of Michigan. We hope to determine whether a combination of (1) continuous heart rate obtained from wearable devices, (2) self-reported data from surveys and symptom logs, and (3) saliva samples can be used to help students self-monitor for infection and eventually be able to create a predictive model to detect illness early.
This is an exploratory study in which hospitalized participants with COVID-19 will receive VIR-7831 (GSK4182136) or matching placebo with assessments of virological effect, safety and pharmacokinetics (PK). The study will be comprised of two phases: The Lead-in phase and the Expansion phase.
This mixed methods study evaluates the effectiveness and cost of a healthcare worker focused outreach intervention strategy versus community organization led outreach to explore contextual factors (individual, family, and community) affecting COVID-19 testing implementation outcomes and scalability.
This study is aiming to find the relation between the severity of COVID-19 in diabetic and obese patients and the high serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7),matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), TGF-β and PDGF Macrophage Activation Markers
