Health Information Technology for COVID-19 Testing in Schools (SCALE-UP Counts)

This project will address key testing challenges in Utah schools by building on collaborations with public school districts, private schools, charter schools and with Utah Department of Health on coronavirus disease (COVID-19) testing and existing infrastructure. The study team will work closely with schools and the Utah public health system to implement and test a shovel-ready and scalable health information technology approach that delivers automated text messages (TM) to students' parents and faculty/staff members around COVID-19 testing. In addition, some students and faculty/staff will receive a health navigator (HN) follow-up to ensure that tests are completed. Families (both of students and faculty/staff members) will be offered the recently FDA-approved in-home serial testing approach if accessing in-person testing is a challenge. While this project is focused on COVID-19 testing, in the case that the COVID-19 vaccination becomes more relevant or is the priority of the school, the study team is able to tailor the intervention to focus on the vaccine as well. The outcomes in this study utilized parent/student reported data. Staff data were also collected but will not be reflected in primary outcome analyses.

Does Repeat Influenza Vaccination Constrain Influenza Immune Responses and Protection

The objectives of this study are to understand the long-term consequences of repeated annual influenza vaccination among healthcare workers (HCWs) and to use statistical and mathematical modelling to elucidate the immunological processes that underlie vaccination responses and their implications for vaccination effectiveness. These objectives will be achieved by pursuing three specific aims: 1. To study the immunogenicity and effectiveness of influenza vaccination by prior vaccination experience 2. To characterize immunological profiles associated with vaccination and infection 3. To evaluate the impact of immunity on vaccination effectiveness. Under Aim 1, a cohort of hospital workers will be recruited and followed for up to 4 years to assess their pre- and post-vaccination and post-season antibody responses, and their risk of influenza infection. These outcomes will be compared by vaccination experience, classified as frequently vaccinated (received ≥3 vaccines in the past 5 years), infrequently vaccinated (<3 vaccinations in past 5 years), vaccinated once, vaccine naïve and unvaccinated. In Aim 2, intensive cellular and serological assessments will be conducted to dissect the influenza HA-reactive B cell and antibody response, and build antibody landscapes that typify the different vaccination groups. In Aim 3, the data generated in Aims 1 and 2 will be used to develop a mathematical model that considers prior infection, vaccination history, antibody kinetics, and antigenic distance to understand the effects of repeated vaccination on vaccine effectiveness. Completion of the proposed research will provide evidence to inform decisions about continued support for influenza vaccination programs among HCWs and general policies for annual influenza vaccination, as well as much needed clarity about the effects of repeated vaccination. In March-April 2020 pursuant to the SARS-CoV-2 global pandemic an administrative supplement added a SARS-CoV-2 protocol addendum for follow-up of COVID-19 infections amongst our HCW participant cohort. The following objectives were added: 1. To estimate risk factors and correlates of protection for SARS-CoV-2 infection amongst HCW 2. To characterize viral kinetics and within-host viral dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 infecting HCW 3. To characterize immunological profiles following infection by SARS-CoV-2 4. To characterize immunological profiles following vaccination for SARS-CoV-2.

Altough even before the pandemic, being a newly graduated nurses was described as a stressful and isolating experience , we can't find studies in the literatureconcerning newly graduated and newly hired nurses during the pandemic pediod. The study purpose is to describe and analyze, trough a phenomenological research, the experience of these nurses.

Effects of the Programme Developed for Sedentary Elderly in the COVID-19 Pandemic: Mobile Interventional Study

The purpose of all these applications is the same: people keep distance and isolate themselves from those in risk groups and patients. In Turkey, it was announced by the Ministry of Health (2020) that the first official COVID-19 case was seen on March 11, 2020. Immediately afterwards, many pioneering measures were taken, such as travel restrictions, mandatory quarantine practices for those with a foreign history, interruption of primary, secondary and higher education, closure of common areas curfews. In order to minimize contact and ensure social isolation, home quarantine practice was encouraged with the 'Stay at Home Turkey' campaign. Within the scope of the measures taken, a curfew was imposed for citizens over 65 years of age who are considered to be risky in terms of high death rate and who have chronic diseases, as of 21 March - 9 June 2020, and the elderly population became the first group to leave social environments in our country. However, quarantine and social isolation for the elderly population due to increased sedentary lifestyle and loneliness pose a serious public health problem. The COVID-19 epidemic has affected health and quality of life in many ways, and one of the most affected areas has been healthy lifestyle behaviors. Especially sedentary and sedentary life is of vital importance for the elderly. When the literature in this field is examined, it is shown that physical activity reduces the risk of premature death, supports positive mental health and supports healthy aging More importantly, physical activity sessions don't have to be long to improve health; 10-minute bouts of moderate to vigorous physical activity are beneficial for the prevention and control of diseases, and even light activity such as moderate-paced walking is beneficial. In addition, emphasized that walking is a low-cost activity that, if done at recommended levels, can reduce the incidence of chronic diseases and associated health care costs. No expensive equipment or gym membership required to walk; most people can do this by incorporating it into their daily life. In this study, which is planned from here, it is aimed to examine the effect of the stay at home program, which is carried out with the mobile initiative to gain exercise behavior in elderly individuals over the age of 65 who are under mandatory quarantine at their homes during the COVID 19 pandemic process, on the number of steps, quality of life and stress level.
