NCT ID: NCT06134453 Recruiting - Supportive Care Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Effect of Reiki on Surgical Fear and Anxiety in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy; Randomized Controlled Study

Start date: April 15, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

surgical intervention; It is defined as an emergency or planned treatment method for the purpose of diagnosis, treatment and symptom reduction in cases of deformity, injury, and disease with hands and tools. Although these interventions are practices aimed at protecting life, whether it is large or small, urgent or planned, it is both physiological and psychological trauma for the patient. The decision of surgical intervention may cause anxiety in individuals regardless of the type of surgical procedure. Fear of anesthesia, fear of death, possibility of postoperative complications, pain, changes in activities of daily living, loss of social life and loss of control may cause anxiety. Reiki, a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) method, is a bioenergy based on the body's energy use and has been used for centuries in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases in various cultures. Reiki is thought to help balance the body's natural energy systems and reduce anxiety by transferring existing energy through the hands. Studies on the effectiveness of reiki, which is increasingly used worldwide and recommended as a treatment approach in health care, are insufficient. The aim of this study, which was planned as a three-group interventional randomized control, was to evaluate the effect of reiki on surgical fear and anxiety of patients who will undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

NCT ID: NCT06134310 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Temporomandibular Disorder

Efficacy of Manual Therapy Based on the Fascial Distortion Model in Individuals With Temporomandibular Disorder

Start date: November 7, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this randomized clinical trial is to investigate the efficacy of Manual Therapy Based on the Fascial Distortion Model (FDM) by comparing it with Core Stabilization Training (CST) or Control in individuals with temporomandibular disorders. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Is the efficacy of the addition of FDM-based Manual Therapy to conventional therapy different from the addition of CST or control? - Is the efficacy of the addition of CST to conventional therapy different from the addition of FDM or control? All participants in the intervention groups will be given eight-week conventional therapy (Rocabado Exercises and Patient Education) in addition to FDM-based Manual Therapy or CST. Participants in the control group will not be given any therapy during the study. Pain intensity, TMD severity, head posture, function, and disability will be assessed.

NCT ID: NCT06132334 Recruiting - Type2diabetes Clinical Trials

The Effects of Upper Extremity Aerobic Exercise Training in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Start date: May 20, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia that occurs as a result of any disorder in insulin secretion or insulin activity. Regular physical activity is important in preventing and managing this disease.

NCT ID: NCT06132308 Recruiting - Postoperative Pain Clinical Trials

Evaluation of PENG Block in Terms of Block Time and Postoperative Pain

Start date: January 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Hip fracture is a common orthopedic emergency in the elderly and causes significant morbidity and is associated with mortality. In most patients, surgical reduction and fixation is the definitive treatment. Effective perioperative analgesia minimizing the need for opioids and related side effects is recommended in this patient population. Therefore, various methods are used. When the investigators look at the literature, for PENG block It is observed that different drug doses (20cc, 30cc, and 40cc) are used. In this study, the investigators planned to investigate the effectiveness of PENG blocks, postoperative analgesia, and side effects.

NCT ID: NCT06130618 Recruiting - Piriformis Syndrome Clinical Trials

The Effects of Ultrasound Guided Ozone and Lidocaine Injections in Piriformis Syndrome

Start date: September 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Piriformis Syndrome (PS) is defined as a trap neuropathy that involves compression of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle, leading to a number of symptoms along with sciatic pain, initially in the hip muscles. In clinical practice, it is estimated to be between 12.2-27%. Repetitive movements with increased demand on the piriformis muscle can lead to increased muscle tension, compression of the sciatic nerve within the muscle, and the development of PS. Additionally, the anatomical structure of the piriformis muscle and the alignment and damage of adjacent structures play a role in the pathophysiology of sciatic nerve compression in PS. It is considered in pathophysiology that a morphological change (contracture, hypertrophy) may cause compression of the sciatic nerve or the relationships of different anatomical structures that change with biomechanical restrictions. Pain is observed along the ipsilateral sciatic nerve distribution due to compression of the sciatic nerve. Additionally, it has been observed that patients with PS are accompanied by weakness in the gluteal muscles, mostly in the gluteus maximus and medius muscles. Accompanying weakness has an effect on static and dynamic posture (2,3). The negative effect of pain on posture has also been shown in studies (4). Pain and muscle changes in the lower extremities also cause disability and postural instability. It has been reported that static and dynamic postural balance is reduced in PS compared to healthy controls (1). Conservative treatment for PS significantly reduces pain with a wide range of therapeutic alternatives. Since ozone injection does not have side effects or major complications, its use in the treatment of myofascial pain syndromes and piriformis syndrome is supported by studies (5). It has an analgesic effect, increasing the pain threshold by activating serotonin-mediated pathways to release endogenous opioids. Additionally, it is used safely due to its low side effect profile. In the literature, it has been shown that local anesthetic injection applications alone or in combination with steroids are effective in the treatment of PS alone due to the therapeutic effects of local anesthetic (6). This study aimed to investigate the effects of ozone and local anesthetic injection on pain, functional level and posture in patients diagnosed with PS.

NCT ID: NCT06130189 Recruiting - Diet Habit Clinical Trials

Nutrition, Physical Activity, Mediterranean Diet Adherence, and Children's Oral Health

Start date: October 17, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The main risk factors for dental caries are inadequate oral hygiene practices, cariogenic bacteria, and cariogenic diet. Among these factors, diet has a different dual relationship with dental caries. Dietary habits have the potential to be a risk factor for dental caries impaired oral and dental health can also lead to deficiencies in dietary intake. Studies have shown that there is a decrease in gum and periodontal diseases in the adult age group with a diet compatible with the Mediterranean diet. This cross-sectional study aims to examine the relationship between a diet compatible with the Mediterranean Diet and dental caries and gum health status in children. We hypothesize that children will have better gum health and less tooth decay with a diet compatible with the Mediterranean diet.
