Strenuous exercise or exercise involving eccentric muscle contractions can lead to muscle damage and changes in muscle function; this is known as exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD). It is known that brief, repeated periods of ischemia followed by reperfusion, known as Ischemic Preconditioning (IPC) cause a delay in cell injury in cardiac muscle as well as in various other organs. Therefore the purpose of this study is to: 1. Quantify the use of IPC in recovery following EIMD. 2. Identify any effect of IPC during recovery on muscle function

Creative Practice as Mutual Recovery

This study explores the hypothesis that mental health service users, their carers and musicians can - through the creative act of music learning and performing - mutually enhance wellbeing through the development of more meaningful and resilient lives. The project seeks to explore three interconnected issues: (i) the extent to which music learning and performing provides a forum for 'mutual recovery' among adult mental health service users, their formal/informal carers, and musicians, (ii) the characteristic features of 'mutual recovery' through music, and (iii) the underlying mechanisms of such 'mutual recovery'. The study will consist of three different stages. Stages 1 and 2 will examine the effect of a variety of group activities - including participatory music, listening to live music, listening to recorded music and a non-music control - on psychological scales, saliva samples of stress hormones and cytokines, and subjective experience to see which provide the most relaxing, sociable and supportive environments for mutual recovery. Stage 3 will explore the impact of musical interventions over longer periods of time. A systematic review we have just carried out has revealed a major gap in research comparing different music interventions and testing the effects of different lengths of interventions. As a result, our study should help us answer the following questions: - Which aspect(s) of music can contribute to mutual recovery? - Do carers, patients and musicians all respond to the same activities, or do some musical activities suit certain groups more than others? - Do carers, patients and musicians all recover at the same rate? - What length of intervention is most effective? If certain interventions are found to produce stronger results than others, these results could help guide community groups and healthcare settings in their design of music activities and have implications for the spending of arts-in-health budgets.

The purpose of this study is to establish the efficacy and safety of Circadin in children with neurodevelopmental disorders and to determine the dose, this randomized, placebo-controlled study is planned to evaluate the efficacy of a double-blind, 13 week treatment period with Circadin 2/5mg in improving maintenance of sleep, sleep latency and additional parameters in children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. The efficacy and safety of Circadin 2/5 mg will continue to be assessed during an open-label extension period of 13 weeks.

Post-marketing Safety Study to Assess the Risk of Spontaneous Abortions in Women Exposed to Cervarix Residing in UK

This study will assess the risk of spontaneous abortion during weeks 1-23 and weeks 1-19 of gestation, respectively, and other pregnancy outcomes, in an exposed cohort, i.e. women with last menstrual period (LMP) between 30 days before and 45 days after, or 30 days before and 90 days after any dose of Cervarix, when compared to a non-exposed cohort, i.e. women with LMP between 120 days and 18 months after the last Cervarix dose. The data collected in the Clinical Practice Research Datalink General Practitioner OnLine Database (CPRD GOLD) in the UK, will be analysed in this study.

This open-label, multicenter study will evaluate the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safety of subcutaneously administered tocilizumab in participants with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA). Participants with body weight less than (<) 30 kilograms (kg) will receive subcutaneous (SC) tocilizumab dose every 2 weeks (Q2W) and participants with body weight greater than or equal to (>=) 30 kg will receive weekly (QW), for 52 weeks. Tocilizumab was administered every 10 days until pre-planned interim analysis was performed and changed to Q2W in participants with body weight <30 kg.
