There are about 36633 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in France. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are the most common form of cancer. The treatment of BCC can be surgical or topical for the low-risk subtypes. Topical treatments used for BCC are imiquimod and photodynamic therapy (PDT). Ingenol mebutate could provide a fast and easy topical therapy for BCC. Data regarding the treatment of BCC with ingenol mebutate are still limited. The investigators propose a pilot study to investigate the efficacy of 1 or 2 courses of ingenol mebutate 0,05%, on superficial and nodular BCC
Next Generation Sequencing in cancer: a feasibility study in France to assess sample circuit and to perform analyzes within a limited time.
Knowledge of the basic fundamental skills of electroencephalography would enable medical and nursing staffs to provide efficient and effective bedside EEG monitoring in critically ill patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the ability of a 10-points EEG teaching program to allow bedside caregivers (medical and nursing intensive care unit staff) interpreting EEG in the critical care setting.
The goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the IsereADOM service package compared to conventional follow-up on the risk of recurrence of falls at 6 months in frail elderly subjects. There is a medico-economic goal too, is to conduct a cost-utility analysis of the IsereADOM service bundle compared to conventional 6-month follow-up from the community perspective in the cheat population at risk of re-offending.
Rocuronium is a non-depolarising neuromuscular blocking agent. The compound has a rapid onset and an intermediate duration of action. The rapid onset is of importance in patients at risk for pulmonary aspiration, for elective induction of anesthesia. Clinical studies simulating rapid sequence induction in elective patients indicate that rocuronium 0.9 mg kg-1 may be suitable for crash intubation. Also, rocuronium may be an alternative to succinylcholine for rapid sequence induction when high dose is injected (3x Effective Dose 95 %= 1mg/kg). But, pharmacokinetic of rocuronium at 1 mg/kg is not well establish. The investigator investigate the onset and recovery of a single dose rocuronium (1 mg/kg) in consecutive patients (>100) using adductor muscle monitoring (Train of Four and Post Tetanic Count)
This study tried to describe diagnostic properties of TRST completed by an emergency doctor, for screening process for fragility of elderly subjects admitted at the accident and emergency department.
Intraabdominal infection require rapid care management including antibiotic therapy and source control. Morbidity and mortality associated with Intraabdominal infections remain high. French recommendations have been edited in 2000 further updated in 2014. Delay in diagnosis and surgery can lead to worsened outcomes. However, little data are available on early community-acquired intraabdominal infections management to identify risk factors of inadequate management.
Systemic Sclerosis (SSc) is an inflammatory chronic disease that can lead to structural damage and handicap. The SSc physiopathology is multifactorial, including genetic and environmental risk factors. The identification of environmental factors implication is crucial to understand the SSc mechanism, and improves the diagnosis and the treatment of the disease.
TEMO-CARB is a phase 3, randomized, controlled, multicentre, open-label pragmatic clinical trial to test the non-inferiority of temocillin versus carbapenem as initial intravenous treatment of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) due to extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing enterobacteriaceae.
Iron is involved in essential functions of the body. It allows the transport of oxygen in the blood, via hemoglobin, at the muscular level, via myoglobin, and it is also involved in cellular metabolism in general, in particular for the production of ATP at the mitochondrial level, within the cytochromes and iron-sulfur proteins of the respiratory chain. Recently, iron deficiency has been identified as an important prognostic factor in heart failure patients. Iron therapy improves symptoms and physical performances of heart failure patients, even in the absence of anemia. As a result, the correction of iron deficiency is now proposed as one of the therapies for heart failure. However, the pathophysiology of the association between cardiac dysfunction and iron deficiency is still poorly understood. The investigators previously developed a mouse model of iron deficiency without anemia, in which the investigators observed impaired physical performances, a decrease of left ventricular ejection fraction, and a decrease in mitochondrial complex I activity. These abnormalities were normalized after iron injection. These animal data suggest that iron deficiency is responsible for left ventricular dysfunction secondary to mitochondrial I complex abnormalities, and that iron therapy corrects them. Iron deficiency is very common in the preoperative period of cardiac surgery, affecting 40 to 50% of patients. During this surgery, it is possible to perform a myocardial biopsy without risk to the patient. The purpose of this study is to verify in patients requiring valvular heart surgery, if iron deficiency is responsible for a decrease in mitochondrial complex I activity and a decrease in cardiac function during the perioperative period, and to verify whether iron treatment improves these abnormalities.
