This study is intended to evaluate the ability of SENS-401 to prevent the ototoxicity induced by cisplatin in subjects with a neoplastic disease. It is a multicenter, randomized, controlled, two-arm, open-label efficacy and safety study in adults with neoplastic disease requiring treatment with cisplatin as part of the chemotherapy protocol plan.

Malnutrition has serious consequences: increased risk of falls, hospitalization and mortality. Malnutrition may accompany or aggravate another geriatric syndrome. The loss of muscle mass and function, called "sarcopenia" can itself lead to a loss of physical activity and therefore of independence. It has been reported that changes in the quantity or quality of food intake could influence the onset or progression of sarcopenia. Thus, an optimized oral diet covering the energy and protein needs of the elderly people living in a nursing home is a key element of the malnutrition prevention strategy. It could help slow down the loss of independence and have a direct impact on the occurrence of the complications mentioned above, and therefore on the use of care. In the elderly, as in the general population, the consumption of linoleic acid (LA), precursor of the omega 6 line, is too high, and that of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), precursor of the omega 3 line, insufficient. The French National Institute against Cancer (INCA) 3 survey results indicate for the 65-79 year old population average ALA intakes of 0.9 g/d whereas the recommendation is 2 g/d. The same is true for long-chain n-3 PUFAs (eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)). There are currently no recommendations specifically concerning nursing home populations. Only recommendations for non-frail people, over the age of 65, exist (ANSES, 2019). Experts recommend maintaining or even slightly increasing the consumption of portions of meat, eggs, fish, fruits and vegetables and dairy products. In the elderly, as in adults, an imbalance of n-6/n-3 PUFA intake or insufficient n-3 PUFA intake could facilitate the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers. The possible prevention of other pathologies more specific to the elderly, such as degenerative diseases, makes the consumption of n-3 PUFAs relevant in this population. Our approach aiming to cover the recommended dietary allowances (RDA) of n-3 PUFAs via the oral diet is therefore very original. An oral diet containing these different sources of fatty acid intake, of various origins, and other essential nutrients for the elderly, would have the advantage of meeting the nutritional objectives on the one hand, and of offering a wide range of tastes, flavors, and texture, allowing to optimize their consumption by nursing home residents, on the other hand. No study has yet evaluated the benefits of n-3 PUFA intake in dependent elderly people residing in nursing homes, moreover, using loss of independence as the main endpoint. The main objective of the trial is to evaluate the effect of an everyday diet containing n-3 PUFA intakes corresponding to the RDA (population > 65 years) compared to the usual diet (therefore uncontrolled) on the evolution of the loss of independence at 2 years of nursing home residents.
The aim of this study is to analyze data from an existing database named SAATH-7 Star, in order to assess the treatment persistence to basal insulin in Type 2 diabetes patients who had been enrolled in the SAATH-7 Star structured patient education program in India.
During acute circulatory failure, volume expansion does not always lead to a significant increase in cardiac output (fluid responsiveness). After initial resuscitation by rapid fluid administration, cardiac preload is no longer extremely low and only half of the patients respond to further volume expansion with the expected increase in cardiac output (fluid unresponsiveness). However, the time delay or the volume of fluid needed to be administered from the state of fluid responsiveness to fluid unresponsiveness is still not determined. Objective To determine, in critically ill patients with acute circulatory failure, 1. : the time and/or the volume of fluid needed from the state of fluid responsiveness to fluid unresponsiveness during septic shock. 2. : determine the factors that influence this time and volume.
Monkey pox virus (MPXV), of the genus Orthopoxvirus, regularly causes epidemics in endemic areas of central and western Africa. Since January 1, 2022, cases of Monkey pox have been reported to WHO by 96 Member States in the 6 WHO regions. As of 22 August 2022, a total of 41,664 laboratory-confirmed cases and 192 probable cases, including 12 deaths, have been reported to WHO. Since May 13, 2022, a high proportion of these cases have been reported from countries where monkey pox transmission had not previously been documented. For the first time, cases and sustained chains of transmission are being reported in countries without direct or immediate epidemiological links to areas in West or Central Africa (WHO 2022). France is one of the most affected countries with 2889 cases reported as of August 22, 2022. This situation led the WHO Director General to declare, on July 23, 2022, that the monkeypox epidemic currently affecting several countries constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. To address this epidemic, the WHO has recommended Post Exposure Vaccination (PEP) and Pre Exposure Vaccination (PrEP) for at risk groups with 2nd and 3rd generation vaccines. In France, the Haute Autorité de Santé (French National Authority for Health) recommended on May 20, 2022, vaccination for PEP and on July 7, 2022, for PrEP with a 3rd generation MVA-BN vaccine (Imvanex® or Jynneos®). The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved the use of Imvanex® on July 22, 2022 for immunization against MPXV. The objective of the present study is to describe the clinical, biological, virological, pathophysiological and immunological aspects in the short and medium term of persons vaccinated against and infected with MPXV.
This open-label, randomized multicenter study is to assess the efficacy, safety, and pharmacokinetics (PK)/pharmacodynamics (PD) of obinutuzumab compared with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) in children and young adults (aged >= 2-25 years) with frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome (FRNS) or steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome (SDNS).
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease share common risk factors and frequently coexist in the same patients. Their management requires use of antithrombotic agents: anticoagulant therapy (AC) for secondary prevention of VTE recurrence, antiplatelet (AP) for secondary prevention of major adverse ischemic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular event (MACCE) in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (coronary artery disease, atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease, lower extremity peripheral arterial disease). Side effects of antithrombotic drugs are the 1st cause of emergency admission and hospitalization for an adverse drug reaction (mainly bleeding), and the combination of AC with AP strongly increases this risk.
Critical care patients experience systemic aggression, which may be the result of trauma, infection or other systemic inflammatory mechanisms. The initial phase of their illness is characterized by metabolic instability and increased catabolism. Nutrition goals in these patients are therefore, on the one hand, to provide sufficient caloric intake to cover energy expenditure while limiting the risks of inappropriate under-feeding, overfeeding- or re-feeding syndrome, and on the other hand, to meet the protein requirements linked to hypercatabolism. In the absence of contraindication, current recommandations state that an intensive care patient who cannot be fed orally, shoul receive continuous enteral nutrition over 24 hours by gastric tube within 48 hours of admission. However, this 24-hour continuous nutrition method does not correspond to the physiological habit of the human species which includes a physiological nighttime fasting period.This fasting period induces a metabolic switch that regulates several pathways, including glycemic control, oxidative stressresistance and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) repair. Furthermore, it takes part un the synchronization of cellular circadian rhythms. Investigator hypothetises that diurnal cyclic enteral nutrition may improve the prognosis of severe intensive care patients compared to continuous enteral nutrition.
Abionic has developed a targeted, rapid test for pancreatic stone protein (PSP) in human K2-EDTA venous whole blood using the abioSCOPE instrument. Currently no PSP study comparaison has been done between venous and arterial whole blood. Abionic would like to confirm the equivalence of the PSP between venous whole blood and arterial whole blood.
