Phase I, open label, prospective, single-center, non-randomized, dose escalation clinical trial aiming to determine the dose-limiting toxicity (DLT) and maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of systemic transduced donor-derived NKG2D-CAR memory T cell infusions (Arm A), and of dual treatment, with both systemic and locally transduced donor-derived NKG2D-CAR memory T cell infusions (Arm B).
Patients undergoing cardiac surgery by minithoracomy present severe acute postoperative pain. Cryoanalgesia of the intercostal nerves and BRILMA block can provide a solution for this postoperative pain. The main aim of this study is to compare the postoperative analgesia provided by BRILMA block and intercostal nerve cryoanalgesia in patients undergoing cardiac surgery by minitoractomia.
BACKGROUNDː The reverse nordic hamstring exercise is developed for the eccentric work of the rectus femoris. After performing Nordic exercise protocol (its original), the relationship between increased eccentric hamstring strength, improvements in sprint capacity and reduced incidence of injuries can be confirmed. The review of evidence, led us propose the relationship and the possible benefits that could exist in the performance of four weeks of reverse nordic exercise protocol and the vertical jump, measured with countermovement jump test (CMJ) on a platform of jump. METHODSː An open randomized controlled trial was conducted, with an intervention and control group, to which they were randomly assigned. The sample was made of 19 players from the San Antonio de Murcia Catholic University Team in the youth A category, aged between 16 and 18 years old. The experimental group (n=10) performed the reverse nordic hamstring exercise protocol for four weeks, in addition to the usual training that they shared with the control group (n=9). Data collection for the CMJ test was done before starting the protocol and immediately after finishing it for all participants. Statistical analysis was carried out with the SPSS program.
This study corresponds to Task 8.1 of the project "Patient-tailored solutions for blood glucose control in type 1 diabetes- TAILOR" (PID2019-107722RB-C21). It has been observed in different studies in healthy people that the glucose rate of appearance or disappearance during exercise is attenuated with the coincident rise in estrogen and progesterone during the mid-luteal phase of the menstrual cycle versus the early luteal phase. The investigators hypothesize that in women with type 1 diabetes, glucose behavior when performing aerobic exercise may be different depending on the phase of the menstruation cycle. This analysis is necessary to improve physical exercise recommendations, both educational and technological, in women with type 1 diabetes, as well as improve the performance of artificial pancreas systems for automatic control of glucose levels under exercise in women.
The goal of this double-blind clinical trial is to compare the efficacy of octreotide versus placebo in laparoscopic hepatectomy surgery in patients diagnosed with resectable hepatocarcinoma or liver metastases. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Decrease in intraoperative bleeding measured in ml of blood lost. - Decrease in the need for blood transfusion and use of intraoperative vasoactive drugs. Participants will receive octreotide or placebo after signing the informed consent form.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of glofitamab monotherapy compared with an investigator's choice of either rituximab plus bendamustine (BR), or lenalidomide with rituximab (R-Len) in patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) mantle cell lymphoma (MCL).
Introduction: Women's football has experienced exponential growth over the last ten years. Its popularity is associated with an increase in anterior cruciate ligament injuries (ACL). They constitute a major current problem as they account for 43% of the injury burden during the sport season. Despite existing training programmes, no uniform criteria have been established to design a precise intervention protocol, with specific tasks linked to women's football, nor has it been proposed to optimise current programmes. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of a comprehensive and specific training protocol focused on female football players with dynamic knee valgus (DKV) to prevent ACL injuries. Methodology: Randomised, double-blind, single-centre clinical trial protocol scheduled for the 2023-2024 season of women's football. There will be 2 groups: a group that will follow a specific ACL injury prevention protocol and a control group. The intervention period will last 12 weeks. Measurements will be taken at 3 time points. The biomechanics of the lower extremities, the dynamics of jumping and landing, as well as the pre and post training satisfaction of the players will be evaluated. Image capture and processing systems will be used in addition to tests such as the drop vertical jump test (DVJ), the LESS scoring system, among others. Future expectations: This protocol aims to be one of the first to implement an ACL injury prevention programme for women football players with DKV. Despite the scarcity of research in this area, studies support beneficial effects at a preventive level.
COVID-19 resulted in the largest cohort of critical illness survivors in history, heightened awareness of the importance of the respiratory sequelae after an acute distress respiratory syndrome (ADRS). Despite the advancement of acute-phase ARDS management, it is unknown whether there are differences in the longitudinal recovery trajectories between patients with post-ARDS due to COVID-19 and due to other causes. The main objective of the study is to identify risk factors of pulmonary sequela (lung diffusing capacity) at long-term follow-up in survivors of ARDS. The investigators are also interested in describing the long-term longitudinal recovery trajectories at a multi-dimensional level (symptoms, quality of life, neurocognitive, other lung function parameters, exercise capacity, chest imaging and molecular profiles) of ARDS survivors, and compared between ARDS caused by COVID-19. The ultimate goal is to understand the pathobiological mechanisms associated with a severe lung injury at the long term, allowing the introduction of clinical guidelines for the management of post-ARDS patients and the assignment of personalized interventions.
The present clinical trial aims to examine alternative strategies for preventing/mitigating hypoglycemic events among adults with type 1 diabetes utilizing a highly personalized control system. This system offers two configurable options: a single-hormone configuration with automatic rescue carbohydrate recommendations (sHC) and a dual-hormone configuration with subcutaneously administered glucagon boluses (dHmG). The main question addressed in this study focuses on determining whether the dHmG outperforms the sHC in terms of minimizing the time spent below the target range and number of hypoglycemic events. Each participant will undergo two 12-hour controlled inpatient studies, including each an unannounced 30-min aerobic exercise session and a meal challenge. The order of these studies, comparing the dHmG to the sHC, will be randomized.
This study is open to adults with advanced liver cirrhosis caused by hepatitis B, hepatitis C, alcohol-related liver disease, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis or other causes. People can join the study if they have high blood pressure in the portal vein (main vessel going to the liver) and bleeding in the esophagus or fluid accumulation in the belly. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called avenciguat helps people with this condition. Participants are put into 2 groups by chance. One group takes avenciguat tablets and the other group takes placebo tablets. Placebo tablets look like avenciguat tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants take a tablet twice a day for 8 weeks. Participants are in the study for 2 to 3 months. During this time, they visit the study site regularly. At 2 of the visits, the doctors check the pressure in the liver vein by inserting a catheter (a long thin tube) that gives information about pressure in the portal vein. The change in blood pressure is then compared between the 2 groups to see whether the treatment works. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.
