NCT ID: NCT04129177 Completed - Clinical trials for Colorectal Neoplasms

Reduction of Surgical Site Infections in Elective Colorectal Surgery After the Implementation of a Bundle of Care.

Start date: October 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Background. The Nosocomial Infection Surveillance Program in Catalonia (VINCat) monitors SSI in elective colorectal surgery since 2007 in 56 hospitals (7.5 million population). These hospitals perform active and prospective standardized surveillance of elective colorectal resections. Post-discharge surveillance is mandatory up to 30 days after surgery. Between 2007 and 2015, the SSI rate did not change significantly, with a cumulated incidence of 5,491 SSI in a total of 29,006 interventions (19%). In 2015, a working group of VINCat specialists and surgeons from the Catalan Society of Surgery was set up to formulate a specific bundle of SSI preventative measures for colorectal surgery. Aim. To analyse the effect of a specific bundle for SSI prevention in elective colorectal surgery. Methods. In 2016, a bundle of six preventative measures was recommended to the VINCat hospitals. Bundle measures were: systemic and oral antibiotic prophylaxis, mechanical bowel preparation (MBP), laparoscopic surgery, maintenance of normothermia, and the use of a double-ring wound retractor. The results of SSI before and after the implementation of the bundle are compared. The results are analysed using the chi-square test (statistical significance p <0.05).

NCT ID: NCT04128449 Completed - Performance Clinical Trials

Modifications in the Anaerob Threshold in Cyclists by Consuming Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA)

MATCY
Start date: April 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In a double-blind, parallel randomized clinical trial with 38 cyclists in whom the performance improvement was determined after the consumption of docosahexaenoic acid for one month.

NCT ID: NCT04128241 Completed - Clinical trials for Knowledge, Attitudes, Practice

Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices on Fad Diets of a Panel of Spanish Consumers: Protocol of a Cross-sectional Study

Start date: November 7, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Introduction: excess body weight is a growing and underestimated problem recognized as a worldwide epidemic. The collective difficulty and frustration to achieve healthy lifestyles, has caused the emergence of the named fad diets. In addition to the uncertainties of efficacy and safety of this diets, there is a lack of research to help establish the scope of the problem, and the knowledge, attitudes and practices of the general population. Objective: to assess the level of knowledge, attitudes (positive and negative) and practices on fad diets in a panel of consumers of socio-demographic characteristics assimilated to the Spanish population. Methods: cross-sectional descriptive study through non-validated and self-administered online Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices survey (KAP survey), on a sample of 2 600 adult consumers (non-probabilistic quota sampling). Primary outcomes: knowledge, attitudes and practices on fad diets. Data analysis: the association of each outcome with sociodemographic and socio-economic data will be assessed, and the differences between calculated scores as well as trends in different domains according to age, educational level and income level will be assessed (point estimates and confidence intervals 95%).

NCT ID: NCT04128124 Completed - Clinical trials for Spontaneous Breathing Trial

Entropy Analysis and Complex Patient-ventilator Interactions During Mechanical Ventilation

ENTROPY-ICU
Start date: September 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Complex patterns of patient-ventilator interactions could be miscalculated by visual observation of mechanical ventilator screens or current algorithms based on physiologic waveforms to detect patient-ventilator asynchronies. Therefore, we aim to characterize, validate and study the clinical distribution and implications of an automated and personalized non-invasive tool based on Entropy to detect Complex Patient-Ventilator Interactions (CP-VI) during mechanical ventilation, defined as breathing pattern change and/or clusters of asynchronies, over the signals of airway pressure (Paw) and airway flow (Flow).

NCT ID: NCT04126499 Completed - Clinical trials for Severe Eosinophilic Asthma

Study to Characterise Patients Receiving Benralizumab in the Framework of an Individualized Access Program in Spain

ORBE
Start date: January 13, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Observational, retrospective study in adults (≥18 years) with severe asthma (maintenance treatment with high dose inhaled corticosteroids combined with long-acting agonist β2) and eosinophilic phenotype, who at the discretion of the investigator were candidates to receive benralizumab in the individualized access program approved by national health authorities. Primary Objective: To describe the demographic and baseline characteristics in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma who participated in the individualized access program approved in Spain and received at least one dose of benralizumab. Secondary Objectives: To describe clinical outcomes in severe eosinophilic asthma patients who received at least three doses of benralizumab in the individualized access program.

Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the safety and immune response to a single intramuscular (IM) dose of GSK Biologicals' investigational RSV maternal vaccine (RSVPreF3) in healthy pregnant women 18-40 years of age and in infants born to vaccinated mothers.

NCT ID: NCT04125342 Completed - Extubation Failure Clinical Trials

Postextubation High-flow Therapy vs Noninvasive Ventilation in Obese or at High-risk Patients

HINFOR
Start date: June 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The main aim is to demonstrate whether reintubation rate is lower with preventive conditioned noninvasive ventilation (NIV) rather than with High-flow oxygen therapy (HFOT) in obese intermediate-risk patients and in high-risk patients.

NCT ID: NCT04125303 Completed - Behavior, Addictive Clinical Trials

The Effectiveness of a Brief Motivational Nursing Intervention

BMNI
Start date: May 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This was a two-staged study undertaken in entertainment-sector workers in Spain: the first part was transversal and observational, and the second was semi-experimental. A short group-based motivational intervention session was implemented by nursing staff, and a before and after evaluation was completed. By reducing the patients' perception of their quality of life, this brief nursing intervention facilitated a favourable increase in the motivation for change among these workers and was effective in 12% of cases.
