Physical Status and Upper Airway Function in Neuromuscular Patients

Inside of studies that report an upper airway function impaired, the upper limb strength has been demonstrated to be determinant in breath, speech and swallow performance. Nevertheless, no previous studies in neuromuscular disease have explored the relation between general disability and upper airway function. There is a suspicion of upper airway which is associated with physical deterioration, however the extent to which if feeds back has not been explored.

Catheter ablation is recommended as first-line therapy for most patients with typical atrial flutter. The most common approach is to create an ablation line across the cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI). Traditionally, atrial flutter ablation has been performed with a conventional approach using two catheters, an ablation catheter and a duodecapolar catheter that is placed at the level of the tricuspid annulus to confirm the CTI block. Recently, a single catheter approach has been described using the behavior of PR interval change during differential pacing over the ablation line to prove CTI block. This prospective, randomized, multicenter study analyzes the effectivity of a single catheter approach compared with conventional approach in terms of clinical outcomes.

Natural History Study for Pediatric Patients With Early Onset of Either GM1 Gangliosidosis, GM2 Gangliosidoses, or Gaucher Disease Type 2

This study is being conducted to better understand the natural course of GM1 gangliosidosis, GM2 gangliosidoses and Gaucher disease Type 2 (GD2). Information is planned to be gathered on at least 180 patients with GM1 gangliosidosis, GM2 gangliosidoses, and Gaucher Disease type 2. Retrospective data collection is planned for at least 150 deceased patients (Group A). Group B is for patients alive at the time of enrollment. In Group B it is planned to prospectively collect more comprehensive data from at least 30 patients. The purpose of this study is to collect relevant information for a adequate design of a potential subsequent research program in these diseases. In this study no therapy is being offered.

Effectiveness of Dry Needling vs Manual Therapy in Patients With Temporomandibular Joint Disorders.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TJD) represent a set of conditions that involve pain and dysfunction of the temporomandibular joint. TJD are a frequent disability affection in the worldwide population and the 35% of affected present at least a symptom such as orofacial pain, mouth movement limitations and snapping or crying temporo-mandibular. Due to the increase of the incidence of the TJD the investigators propose to complete this study. A randomized controlled trial with parallel groups have been designed and blind evaluation of the response variable. The hypothesis is that dry needling produces a positive effect in the involved variables of this study in comparison with manual therapy. The aim of this RCT is to compare the effectiviness of the application of manual therapy in comparison with dry needling in the perceived pain, mouth opening, the degree of cervical disability and the pressure-pain threshold (PPT) of myofascial trigger points (MTrP) in patiens with TJD.

During pneumoperitoneum insufflation the insufflated gas increase intra-abdominal pressure. The generated pressure can lead to a different increase in volume depending on the abdominal cavity and patients' characteristics. The primary objective is to determine the relationship between intraabdominal pressure (IAP) and intraabdominal volume (IAV) during pneumoperitoneum insufflation. The secondary objective is to determine the rate of abdominal-thoracic transmission (ATT) assessing the correlation between IAP and respiratory driving pressure (ΔPRS).

Pediatric Acute Kidney Injury in COVID-19

This study is an observational registry of children with or suspected to have SARS CoV2 (COVID-19) admitted to pediatric intensive care units (PICU). This registry will help describe the prevalence, rate and severity of acute kidney injury (AKI) in children with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2(SARS CoV2) across the world. The registry will be developed using a point prevalence methodology and then full retrospective review. Once a week, from April through June 2020, data collection will occur in "real-time" to estimate a weekly point prevalence of AKI and renal replacement therapy (RRT). The operational definition of "patients under investigation" (PUIs) will be used to identify the denominator of patients to be studied. The PUIs will be cohorted into SARS CoV2 test positive, test negative, test pending, or test unavailable. The primary aim of this study is to deliver a global, objective data driven analysis of the burden of AKI in virus positive patients or patients under investigation (PUI) who are admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit.
