Incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in children after tonsillectomy with or without adenoidectomy may be as high as 75%. Several medications may prevent and treat PONV, such as steroids, antidopaminergic drugs and serotonin (5-HT3) antagonists. The objective of this study is to compare three prophylactic antiemetic treatments: - dexamethasone alone (250 mcg/kg) - dexamethasone (250 mcg/kg) + droperidol (10 mcg/kg) - dexamethasone (250 mcg/kg) + ondansetron (150 mcg/kg).
The purpose of this study is to generate long-term safety, tolerability and efficacy data for AFQ056 in eligible adolescent patients with FXS who have participated in the CAFQ056B2214 study, the PK study CAFQ056B2131, or another study of AFQ056 which included FXS patients below 18 years of age provided the patient is at least 12 years of age at the time of entry into the current study.

In craniofacial trauma, the involvement of orbital structures is noted in up to 40% of cases (Ellis 1985). Post-traumatic orbital deformities caused by incorrect reconstruction of orbital dimensions are severe complications causing enophthalmos, diplopia and visual acuity disturbance. To prevent such complications, immediate repair of orbital injuries with the restoration of normal anatomy is indicated in orbital floor fractures. With the help of biodegradable implants small and medium-sized defects are easily managed (Büchel 2005, Lieger 2010). In extensive fractures however, only calvarian bone and titanium mesh considered to provide a sufficient support of the orbital content. Calvarial bone can be difficult to mould and to adapt to the form and size of the orbital lesion. In addition, donor site morbidity cannot be disregarded. Orbital reconstruction mesh on the other hand is always available and easier to apply. There are however important requirements for these meshes, such as biocompatibility, excellent stability, optimal adaptability and patient comfort. Recently, the company Medartis developed a titanium mesh featuring a low profile. In order to regain normal function, normal anatomy has to be re-established. It therefore seemed reasonable to assess an implant, which would facilitate orbital reconstruction without disturbing normal anatomy by its size, profile height or properties. The purpose of this study was to assess the use and accuracy of the low profile titanium mesh for primary internal orbital reconstruction.
Medical compression stockings are highly effective in the prevention, treatment, and secondary prevention of chronic venous insufficiency and of post-thrombotic syndrome. Non-adherence to the prescribed compression treatment concerns approximately 40% of patients. Elderly patients are often unable to handle stockings in order to put them on properly in the morning and to undress in the evening. Gliding aids and stocking "butlers" are two types of tools to facilitate the dressing manoeuvre with medical stockings. The present study evaluates four different gliding aids and two different stocking "butlers" to put on three different types of compression stockings. The study is conducted with forty consenting subjects with advanced chronic venous insufficiency.
The purpose of this study is to determine the incidence of aspirin resistance in the population of vascular surgery patients; and to evaluate the changes in the efficacy of aspirin in the first five postoperative days.
The purpose of the study is: - to assess the potential benefits of 18F-[FDG] PET/CT and PET/MRI for operable breast cancer in order to define the size and location of the primary tumor, as well as axillary, supraclavicular and internal mammary lymph nodes. - to apply the imaging results to the simulation and the radiation treatment planning and partial breast for 3-D radiation treatment and partial breast irradiation with intensity modulated radiation treatment (IMRT).
A lot of shoulder function evaluation scores exist but none has been universally accepted as a gold standard. Recent studies have demonstrated the potential of computerized movement analysis with embedded sensors for objective evaluation of shoulder functional outcome following surgery. A very simple testing procedure is possible as just a few repetitions of two simple shoulder movements are sufficient. This could potentially facilitate implementation of shoulder function movement analysis in current clinical practice. However, at the present stage of development, the method needs to be extensively validated. This means that the research will intend to determine precisely for which current shoulder pathology it can be applied, what the outcome of healthy people is, what the reliability of the score is and how it can monitor patient evolution.
To collect characteristics of patients with ADPKD across a broad population, over time to better understand disease progression (signs, symptoms and outcomes). Association with total kidney volume changes and other measures of disease progression will be determined in order to identify a population at increased risk for disease progression. The economic and quality life impact of ADPKD will be assessed. Subjects who terminated participation early from clinical trials with tolvaptan may also be followed.
