A Prospective Trial Comparing the Cost of Post Operative X-rays for Fractures Treated With Stable Internal Fixation

The standard post-operative radiographic protocol for the monitoring of fractures at HSC includes post-operative in hospital radiographs as well as radiographs at the two week follow up appointment. This is in addition to good quality intra-operative radiographs. With current operative techniques and implants, orthopaedic surgeons can achieve reliably stable internal fixation. In fact, patients are often allowed to take weight through the fractured limb immediately post-operatively. In these cases, redundant post-operative radiographs likely represent an avoidable cost to the system financially, and an avoidable cost to the patient in additional time spent in hospital and unnecessary radiation exposure.

Alirocumab (SAR236553/REGN727) is a fully human monoclonal antibody that binds PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9). Primary Objective of the study: To demonstrate the reduction of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) by alirocumab as add-on therapy to stable maximally tolerated daily statin therapy in comparison with ezetimibe after 24 weeks of treatment in participants with hypercholesterolemia at high cardiovascular (CV) risk. The Effect of Palatal Brushing on Denture Stomatitis

Palatal brushing has several advantages including removal of debris and stimulation of blood flow and saliva, which may help to prevent or treat oral diseases, such as denture-related stomatitis in complete denture wearers. However, there is no previous clinical trial testing this effect. Therefore, the investigators goal is to evaluate whether palatal brushing may change the severity of denture stomatitis and counts of microbes on denture and palatal mucosa. After an initial exam and data collection, participants will receive instructions about palatal brushing and they will be assessed after 1 and 3 months. Collection of data will include patient-reported information, intraoral photographs and swabbing (for counting microbes). Tested Hypotheses: - There is no difference in the extent of palatal inflammation in edentulous patients with denture stomatitis before and after 3 months of palatal brushing. - There is no difference in the number of colony forming unit (CFU) of Candida isolated from palate and denture of patients affected by denture stomatitis before and after 3 months of palatal brushing.

The study will determine the proportion of patients with 2 day nadir serum asparaginase activity levels that are >0.1 IU/mL during the first 2 weeks of treatment with 3 times per week IV dosing.

CIMT has shown great promise in helping children and adults regain lost function in a disabled limb by forcing its use through an intensive motor training program and constraining the unaffected arm with a cast. However, relatively little is known about the underlying mechanisms of CIMT in hemiplegic CP. This project will use an integrated translation model to explore neuroimaging predictors of a positive clinical response to CIMT.

Safety and Efficacy of Linaclotide in Patients With Chronic Constipation and Prominent Abdominal Bloating

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of linaclotide compared with placebo in patients with chronic constipation (CC) and prominent abdominal bloating. This study includes an up to 3-week screening period and a 2-3 week pretreatment period. Patients who are eligible will be randomized to one of two doses of linaclotide or placebo for 12 weeks. This 12-week study will assess the effects of linaclotide on bowel movement frequency, as well as other abdominal and bowel symptoms of CC.
