There are about 28871 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Canada. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of 4 or more DNA-repair gene defects in a population of men with metastatic Prostate Cancer (PC) and to use the reported DNA-repair gene defects to assess biomarker eligibility for niraparib interventional studies.
Programmed intermittent epidural bolus (PIEB) for labour analgesia allows an epidural pump to be programmed to deliver small amounts of the local anesthetic and opioid solution at regularly timed intervals. However, little evidence is available to guide optimal settings for PIEB. The gaps in evidence include: (1) programmed timing for the first PIEB bolus (referred to as the "NEXT bolus") (2) determination of PIEB bolus volume (3) the interval for subsequent doses (PIEB interval). Response Surface Methodology will be utilized to best estimate the optimal PIEB settings (NEXT bolus interval, PIEB interval time, PIEB volume) by using the following clinical primary outcome measures: maternal satisfaction score, need for a clinician administered rescue bolus, and the ratio of PCEA boluses requested/delivered.
This is a pilot study to evaluate clinical predictors of intracranial bleeding in elderly patients who present to the emergency department (ED) after a fall. The aim is to assess feasibility and rate of patient recruitment, patient follow up, and to establish a point estimate for the incidence of intracranial bleeding in the investigator's population. Currently there are no guidelines for ED physicians to assess the pretest probability of intracranial bleed in these patients, and no safe way to exclude a bleed without CT.
Endoscopic ultrasound guided biliary drainage (EUS-BD) is an evolving field that has grown in popularity in the management of malignant biliary obstruction. Although Endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) with stent insertion has been the mainstay therapy throughout several decades, the transpapillary approach through tumor tissue is associated with significant risk for adverse events such as post-ERCP pancreatitis and stent dysfunction from tumor tissue overgrowth and ingrowth. EUS-BD, through the creation of a choledochoduodenostomy with a stent, has the potential advantage of avoiding the papilla and its associated complications while potentially improving stent patency with lower risks for tumor tissue ingrowth and/or overgrowth.
This study is designed to compare the bioavailability of the test Product(CE-Iohexol Injection) and the reference product Iohexol Injection (Omnipaque™) following intravenous injection in normal healthy volunteers. The secondary objective is to assess the safety and tolerability of the treatments administered. Captisol® is present to improve stability and to potentially reduce the risk of contrast-induced acute kidney injury(CI-AKI) associated with iohexol administration.
To evaluate long-term BOS-free survival outcomes of the OCS™ Lung INSPIRE Trial patients.
The purpose of this study is to determine the safety of synthetic beta-arbutin, a dietary supplement that aids in the prevention and treatment of calcium oxalate kidney stones, when administered to healthy human subjects.
This Canadian, multi-centre, prospective, real world study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of low dose methoxyflurane (MEOF) (PENTHROX™) for the treatment of moderate to severe pain associated with trauma in the Canadian ED.
This study is being conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 3 different application rates of topically applied Crisaborole ointment 2% over vehicle in adults with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (AD). In each subject four application areas will be identified. Each subject will receive 4 treatments: the 3 different application rates of the active treatment and the vehicle. The areas will be randomly assigned to treatment with topical Crisaborole ointment 2% and vehicle, once daily, for 2 weeks, without occlusion.
Alcohol consumption is prevalent and frequently excessive and its use poses a major risk to both personal and public health. In the U.S., every month over 25% of adults and 40% of college students drink until their blood alcohol concentration (BAC) exceeds the legal limit of 0.08% and there is a great unmet need for interventions to help individuals better manage their BACs. Zeno Functional Foods has developed a protein bar, SOBAR, with the aim to control alcohol absorption when eaten prior to drinking. It is hypothesized that the SOBAR will slow stomach emptying resulting in a comparatively diminished peak BAC as well as a more stable BAC-time profile that is both safer and more pleasurable for the drinker.
