There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Investigate the effects of Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) performed during hemodialysis (HD) procedures in patients with end stage kidney disease (ESKD). With intervention of thirty-six IMT sessions, performed three times a week, at an intensity of 50%, 30% and 10% (sham) of the maximum inspiratory pressure (MIP).
It is a double blind controlled study to test the hypothesis that it's possible to predict the response to naltrexone in Videogame Disorder with the use of Eye Tracking device, during a period of 12 weeks
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is spreading worldwide and has become a public health emergency of major international concern. Currently, no specific drugs or vaccines are available. This study aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of intravenous infusion of natural killer cells patients with COVID-19.
Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is the most common overuse injury of the lower limb, its prevalence is around 20% in general population, and women are more likely to develop PFP compared to men. PFP may develop as a result of increased pressure and joint stress due to an reduction in contact area in the patellofemoral joint. The excessive dynamic knee valgus is an important contributor to patella misalignment and for the increasing of laterally directed forces on the patella, and restriction in ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM) has been previously associated with excessive dynamic knee valgus. Although the evidence shows that strengthening exercises for the quadriceps and gluteus promote improvement of knee pain and function, there is a lack of studies that investigate if targeted interventions for improvement ankle dorsiflexion may promote additional benefits in knee pain and function when performed in combination with strengthening exercises. Thus, the aimed of this study is analyze the addition effect of calf stretching and ankle mobilization to quadriceps and gluteus strengthening on knee pain and function in women with PFP who display ankle dorsiflexion restriction.
To compare the reduction of the bedrest time of the patient after percutaneous renal biopsy from 24 hours to 8 hours in relation to the occurrence of complications evaluated by the Nursing Outcome Classification (NOC) indicators.
Introduction: Late-onset muscle pain (DOMS) is characterized by a type of temporary muscle damage, common after high-intensity exercise. In addition to pain, DOMS clinically generates muscle stiffness, reduced joint range of motion, muscle weakness and reduced peak torque. In this regard, in order to accelerate the recovery of body systems and treat symptoms of DOMS, the management of different types of interventions has been observed, supporting the clinical practice, based on evidence. Objectives: To investigate the effect of different types of clinical interventions for the treatment of DOMS. Material and methods: For the clinical trial, 50 ultramarathon and rowing athletes of both sexes, aged between 18 and 60 years old, will be recruited randomly into four possible groups: control (CG), shock waves (G1) , massage (G2) and laser therapy (G3). The evaluation moments will be as follows: minutes before exercise (M1); immediately after exercise (M2); immediately after applying the recovery technique (M3); and 24 hours after exercise (M4) and the evaluated outcomes will be: pain, psychological aspects, functional test and blood markers.
Pain is a vital sign that depends on personal experience involving different factors such as previous sensory and emotional experience, age, spiritual and cultural aspects, that makes it harder to evaluate, especially in young children. Pain control is important to diminish the anxiety of the child and family, also this is more important in patients who require procedure and treatment that are more painful, like oncological and hematological patients. The study aims to measure if the intranasal drugs (dexmedetomidine and fentanyl) has the same outcomes when compared with intravenous drug (ketamine and midazolam), but with less side effects. The participants are patients from an oncologic outpatient, that will be submitted to cerebrospinal fluid puncture, myelogram or both will be randomized assigned to both groups. The study will compare physiological variables ( heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure) and sedation and pain scales to see if its work properly. The study purpose is to evaluate if intranasal drug works in the same way with less side effects comparing with the usual treatment.
The global obesity epidemic has extended to low and middle income countries (LMICs) in which in a dramatic nutritional transition has shifted from maternal/child undernutrition to overnutrition. Within Brazil, maternal overweight/obesity (OW/OB) and childhood obesity have dramatically increased. During developmental periods, exposure to maternal OB and high-fat diet increases the risk of childhood and adult obesity, in part a result of increased food intake. Studies confirm that offspring of overweight and obese (OW/OB) women are at increased risk of newborn and age 1 year adiposity, and infant adiposity predicts childhood and adult obesity. The investigators hypothesize that that infants of OW/OB mothers have both relative increased appetite and are provided human milk with increased caloric composition. The investigators propose that calibrating milk or formula intake in infants of overweight mothers can reduce the incidence of infant obesity.
The objective of this randomized clinical study is to evaluate the survival of repairs in restorations using composite resin (CR) or high viscosity glass ionomer cement (GIC) in primary molars. This trial is nested to another study (NCT03520309), so patients will be enrolled from CARDEC 3. 312 restorations will be included and randomized into two groups: glass ionomer cement (Riva Self Cure, SDI, Australia) and composite resin (Filtek Bulk Fill and Filtek Bulk Fill Flow, 3M ESPE, USA). After the end of treatments, patients will be followed for 24 months to assess the success of the restorations, which will be considered as the absence of the need for reintervention. The Kaplan-Meier survival curves and the log-rank tests will be performed to assess survival between groups and Cox regression analysis will be used to compare the outcome with the variables (α = 5%).
Photodamage is a growing concern in contemporary society because promotes early skin aging and different pathologies resulting from prolonged and repeated exposure to ultraviolet solar radiation, which is considered the main extrinsic factor of this process. Affected by radiation, the hands play an important role in the manifestation and visibility of aging, as they are very exposed body regions. The study proposal is developed by the potential mechanism of tissue repair, skin rejuvenation, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of photobiomodulation, complementing the benefits of chemical peel. The main objective of this randomized, controlled, double-blind clinical trial is to compare the photorejuvenating effects of 20% trichloroacetic acid (TCM) peel applied alone and the effects of the association of 20% TCM peel with 660nm light emitting diode (LED) photobiomodulation (PBM) in the treatment of the back of the hands. Participants will be divided into 2 groups and will receive different therapies according to the allocation group. Group A will be subjected to 04 chemical peel sessions of 20% TCM and PBM. Group B will also receive the 04 chemical peel sessions of 20% TCM with PBM simulation. The application sessions will be monthly and the consultations for fortnightly evaluations. Analysis of photoaging characteristics such as fine and coarse wrinkles, dyschromias and global assessment of the back of the hands will be carried out using periodic standardized photographs. A visual-analog pain scale and a 5-point Likert scale will also be applied regularly to assess participants' satisfaction.
