RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effect on the body of combining cyclophosphamide with cisplatin, etoposide, and bleomycin in treating children who have newly diagnosed malignant germ cell tumors that are not in the brain and gonads.

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy such as cyclophosphamide, prednisone, and methylprednisolone use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Monoclonal antibodies such as rituximab can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells. Combining cyclophosphamide and either prednisone or methylprednisolone with rituximab may be effective in treating lymphoproliferative disease following organ transplantation. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining cyclophosphamide and either prednisone or methylprednisolone with rituximab in treating patients who have Epstein-Barr virus-positive lymphoproliferative disease following organ transplantation.

Inhaled Sargramostim in Treating Patients With First Pulmonary (Lung) Recurrence of Osteosarcoma

RATIONALE: Inhaling aerosolized sargramostim before and after surgery may interfere with the growth of tumor cells and shrink the tumor so that it can be removed during surgery. Sargramostim may then kill any tumor cells remaining after surgery. This may be an effective treatment for osteosarcoma that has spread to the lung. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well inhaled sargramostim works in treating patients who are undergoing surgery for the first recurrence of osteosarcoma that has spread to the lung.

Efficacy and Safety Study of CC-5013 Monotherapy in Subjects With Myelodysplastic Syndromes

This study is a multi-center, single-arm, open-label study of oral CC-5013 monotherapy administered at a dose of 10 mg daily on Days 1-21 every 28 days (28-day cycles) to red blood cell (RBC) transfusion-dependent subjects with low- or intermediate-1-risk MDS who do not have a del (5q31-33) cytogenetic abnormality. Screening procedures will take place within 28 days of first day of study drug treatment. Subjects will receive study drug (CC-5013) in 28-day cycles for up to 6 cycles, or until bone marrow disease progression or progression/relapse following erythroid hematologic improvement (Appendix I) is documented. Study visits will occur every cycle (every 28 days) and laboratory monitoring to assess hematological parameters will occur every 14 days. Safety and efficacy assessments to be performed during the study are outlined in the Schedule of Study Assessments.

SR34006 Compared to Vitamin K Antagonist (VKA) in the Treatment of Pulmonary Embolism

Patients who have a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) will be treated in this study. The purpose of the study is to compare the safety and effectiveness of a new injectable anticoagulant (blood-thinning) drug, SR34006, with the standard way of treating a pulmonary embolism. The standard treatment includes injections or infusions of an anticoagulant drug, (LMW)heparin, for about a week followed by anticoagulant tablets (warfarin or acenocoumarol) which are taken by mouth. Assignment to either SR34006 or (LMW)heparin plus warfarin or acenocoumarol will be purely by chance and will be known by both patients and their doctors.

Celecoxib may stop the growth of Ewing's sarcoma by stopping blood flow to the tumor. Combining more than one chemotherapy drug with celecoxib may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining low-dose vinblastine and celecoxib with standard regimens of combination chemotherapy in treating patients who have newly-diagnosed metastatic Ewing's sarcoma family of tumors.
