Filter by:This study aims to validate a non-invasive method of chromosomal screening (NICS), based on the Multiple Annealing and Looping Based Amplification Cycles- Next-generation Sequencing (MALBAC-NGS) technology, in order to determine the chromosomal endowment of a blastocyst from the DNA of the embryonic culture medium. The chromosomal status of the embryo from an embryo biopsy of trophoectoderm will be established (usual clinical practice), the chromosomal endowment from the DNA of the embryonic culture medium will be determined, and the results using the NICS and the conventional invasive method (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy [PGT-A]) will be compared.
The project aims toward clarifying the underlying mechanism and the long-term impact of congenital heart disease on neurodevelopment.
Introduction. Vertical jump is the main movement in volleyball, and the main etiological factor of patellar tendinopathy. The eccentric exercise has been proved as the most effective intervention in improving this factor. Aim. Annalise the effectiveness of the load control during the eccentric exercise to increase the cross-sectional area as well as the increase of the pain threshold of the patellar tendon, and the gain of the quadriceps maximum strength, in volleyball older players. Study design. Randomized clinical study, simple blind, multicentric and with a follow-up period. Methods. 40 volleyball players will be recruited, who will be randomized to the two groups: experimental (control of the load based on the RM during the eccentric exercise of quadriceps) and control (without load control). There will be an intervention of 4 weeks with 2 weekly seasons of 10 minutes each. The dependent variables will be: cross-sectional area (ultrasound evaluation), pain threshold in the patellar tendon (analog or digital algometer) and the maximum strength of the quadriceps (linear encoder or estimating the RM). In case of normality of the distribution of the sample, parametric tests will be used: student t-test of related samples (difference between evaluations in each rump) and repeated measures ANOVA (intra- and intergroup effect). Expected results. To observe an increase in the cross-sectional area, pain-threshold of patellar tendon and quadriceps maximum strength.
The purpose of this study us to compare the rate of prenatal identification of abnormal fetal growth or amniotic fluid between clinical evaluation of uterine size by symphysis fundal height (SFH) measurements versus point-of-care ultrasound (POC-US) evaluation of abdominal circumference (AC) and maximum vertical pocket (MVP).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of a fetoscopic surgical technique for antenatal correction of fetal myelomeningocele. Two surgical approaches will be utilized. The percutaneous approach will be offered to participants with a posterior placenta. The laparotomy/uterine exteriorization approach will be offered to participants regardless of placental location.
This is a multicenter post-marketing clinical follow-up study to collect safety and performance data in a prospective cohort of patients who will have undergone coil embolization using the ED Coil and ED Detach Generator v4.
It is a retrospective study at a tertiary care hospital. All cases of lower limb deformity whose correction was done with fixator assisted IM nailing from 2010 till 2017 were analyzed.
Hypothesis:Computer-aided design virtual mandibular position is feasible for costochondral graft growing and occlusion stabilizing in the one-stage treatment of children temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TMJA) or condyle absence with jaw deformity. Methods: The inclusion criteria is children patients younger than 12 years old with unilateral TMJA or condyle absence. A virtual mandibular position is designed preoperatively according to the CT data of jaw and dentition. 3D printed templates and occlusal splints are used to guide the costochondral graft and mandibular position. During surgery, the affected ramus is reconstructed with costochondral grafting under the virtual mandibular position. After surgery, the occlusal splint is fixed to maxilla at least one month, and then, replaced by orthodontic functional appliance to promote downward growth of the maxilla. Occlusion, facial symmetry, costochondral graft growing would be evaluated and analysed until adulthood.
An early diagnosis of congenital malformations and suspected genetic conditions in critically ill infants is essential to perform specific adapted care, prevention, and give proper genetic counseling. However, etiologies are various and each of them is individually very rare. Thanks to next-generation sequencing technologies, diagnosis time frames have drastically decreased and the investigators have observed an increase in diagnosis yields. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of fast trio exome sequencing (less than 16 days between informed consent signature and the consultation for results to the parents) in infants under the age of 12 months hospitalized in Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Several drugs and chemotherapies seem to have an impact on the hematological system. This study investigates reports of hematological toxicities, including the International classification of disease ICD-10 for treatments in the World Health Organization (WHO) global Individual Case Safety Report (ICSR) database (VigiBase).
