Study of Fruquintinib in Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

Fruquintinib administered at 5mg once daily in 4 weeks treatment cycle (three weeks on and one week off) was well tolerated and demonstrated encouraging preliminary clinical antitumor activity in patients with advanced Colorectal Cancer (CRC) in Phase Ib study. This study is aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Fruquintinib in the treatment of patients with metastatic CRC who have progressed after metastatic CRC second line or above standard chemotherapy.

Two major barriers to successful colorectal cancer screening are appointment keeping and proper bowel preparation. The purpose of this study is to test the efficacy of a patient navigation program to increase colorectal cancer screening at Rush University Medical Center. The investigators hypothesize that colorectal cancer screening will be improved for subjects who utilize a patient navigator.

Detection of Oncogenic Tumor Mutations in the Urine and Blood of Lung and Colorectal Cancer Patients

The purpose of this study is to see whether gene mutations can be found in the urine or blood of lung cancer patients and urine of colorectal cancer patients. Gene mutations are when DNA in a gene is damaged in a way that changes the genetic message carried by that gene. Gene mutations can sometimes cause lung cancers. These gene mutations are only found in lung and colorectal cancer cells, not the normal cells in your body. All lung cancer tumors and colorectal cancer tumors are now tested for different gene mutations as their presence affects lung cancer treatment. Tumor samples obtained from a biopsy or surgery are typically tested for these gene mutations.

Efficacy and Safety of Aflibercept in Combination With FOLFIRI Chemotherapy as 1st Line Treatment for Patients With Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

One of the treatments generally used to treat this disease is a chemotherapy called FOLFIRI. The purpose of this study is to improve the efficacy of the chemotherapy by adding a protein, similar to immunoglobulins, aflibercept, and to assess their tolerance. Aflibercept is a protein that has already been studied in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancers, in combination with a chemotherapy involving irinotecan in addition to 5FU (fluoropyrimidine) ( (FOLFIRI) as 2nd line treatment. It is marketed in Europe and it is authorized in the United States. Its addition to this chemotherapy combination has in fact brought about a benefit in terms of progression-free survival and overall survival. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and tolerance of this combination rather in the initial approach to the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancers and hence to evaluate it as 1st line treatment

To Assess the Safety of Continuous IV Administration of Plerixafor in Patients With Advanced Pancreatic, Ovarian and Colorectal Cancers

Pancreatic, ovarian and colorectal cancers are difficult to treat using chemotherapy and immune therapies.Currently most patients are offered treatment with a standard chemotherapy drug depending on their cancer type. Recently, laboratory studies have shown that a drug called plerixafor may help the body to overcome resistance to immune therapy. The purpose of this study is to find out if the study drug has the same effect on patients with advanced pancreatic, ovarian or colorectal cancer, as we have seen in our laboratory experiments, and find out the right dose of the study drug to give. This is a 'dose escalation study'. Patients will be recruited slowly and the study team will closely monitor the effect the drug has, until they find the best dose to give. As part of this study, blood and tumour samples will be collected and analysed in our laboratories and the patients cancer will be monitored using two imaging techniques, CT and FDG-PET scans.
