Survivorship Care Plans and Telehealth Education for the Improvement of Access to Cancer Survivorship, the IMPACT Study

This trial studies how well self-generated survivorship care plans and telehealth education works in improving knowledge and self-efficacy in cancer survivors living in rural areas. Patients living in rural areas often face barriers to survivorship care and report unmet needs. A survivorship care plan created by the patient (self-generated) may help them to better transition from oncology to primary care and improve communication between care teams in order to meet these needs and create better health outcomes. Telehealth is a way of delivering health care services from a distance, including patient education. Combining a self-generated survivorship care plan with telehealth education may help to improve knowledge and self-efficacy in cancer survivors.

There are limited data from retrospective studies regarding whether short-term and long-term outcomes after laparoscopic or robot-assisted radical colectomy (minimally invasive surgery) are equivalent to those after open abdominal radical colectomy (open surgery) among patients with early and medium-stage colorectal cancer. This trial is a multicenter,prospective, randomized trial evaluating short-term and survival outcomes concerning minimally invasive surgery and open surgery for colorectal cancer.

Individually Tailored Strategies for the Precision Prevention of Gastric Cancer and Colorectal Cancer in the Community

Gastric cancer is a global health threat. Helicobacter pylori is now recognized as the main risk factor that initiates this process; hence, H. pylori eradication has been considered the most effective method to ameliorate the burden of gastric cancer. Serum pepsinogen levels reveal the current atrophy of the stomach and predict gastric cancer risk. A risk prediction model with the combination of H. pylori infection and serum pepsinogen level could identify the highest-risk gastric cancer patients. Colorectal cancers (CRC) rank second and third as the leading causes of cancer-related death in men and women, respectively. For CRC prevention, a two-stage approach using the fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is popular; besides, the FIT levels may serve as a guide for priority setting in prompting residents to undergo colonoscopy. Therefore, the effectiveness and utility of aggressive referral confirmatory diagnosis protocol in a colorectal cancer screening program for those with high FIT levels urgently need to evaluate.

Colorectal Cancer Screening French Organizations for the Follow-up After Colonoscopy

France is one of the European countries where the incidence of colorectal cancer is the highest among cancers for both sexes. Fecal occult blood screening has been implemented since 2008. However, this screening excludes high risk people who have a 10 to 30 % risk of developing a CRC during their lifetime. Colonoscopy follow up of these persons is not organized, and it is up to the attending physician to recall the date of the surveillance colonoscopy. This results in a poor compliance with the recommendations by these people. A postal reminder of the surveillance colonoscopies sent by The French screening organizations to the patients should increase adherence to follow-up recommendations. The colorectal cancer screening organizations will collects from the hepatogastroenterologists (HGE) informations on colonoscopies of people more than 50 years old who live in the Rhone. These informations will allow to send a reminder 3 months before the date recommended by the HGE. Participation rate and timeliness will be assessed, as well as the severity of the lesions found. A medico-economic analysis will also be carried out.

Breakthrough Improvement Collaborative for ColoRectal Cancer (BIC4CRC)

Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer in Europe and the third worldwide. Approximately 1 in 20 men and 1 in 35 women will develop colorectal cancer at some moment in their life. In Flanders, in 2014, there was an increase in the detection of colorectal cancer with 21% compared to 2013. Early detection improves the prognosis for the patient. In this early stage, colorectal surgery is one of the most important treatments, but it is also complex and has a high complication rate. However, over the last decade, surgical care for patients with colorectal cancer has become more standardized. The use of structured care methods, such as care pathways and protocols, has helped in standardizing care processes. Specifically for patients with colorectal cancer, perioperative care has shifted with the implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programs. The goal of ERAS- protocols is to optimize the interventions during the perioperative hospitalization period and reduce postoperative complications. Despite the increasing evidence in favor of the use of these standardized protocols, adherence and implementation in daily practice remains challenging. The primary goal of this quality improvement project is to enhance the standardization of key interventions in the ERAS care process for patients undergoing colorectal surgery. Therefore, adherence to the ERAS-guidelines will be investigated and hospitals will receive feedback to set up improvement initiatives. Moreover, interactive group sessions and on-site training activities will stimulate knowledge sharing and define best practices.

All enrolled patients received the 12 times of Immuncell-LC therapy: 8 times in every 1 week and 4 times in every 2 weeks.
