Filter by:The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combination of mFOLFOX-6 plus cetuximab for 8 cycles followed by mFOLFOX-6 plus cetuximab or single agent (s/a) cetuximab as maintenance therapy in patients (pts) with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).
This study will assess the efficacy and safety of treatment with the combination Avastin (bevacizumab) 5mg/kg iv every 2 weeks, Xeloda (capecitabine) 1000 mg po b.i.d. on Days 1-14 of every 28-day cycle and oxaliplatin 40mg/m2 iv weekly in patients with inoperable locally advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer. The anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression.
The purpose of this study is to determine the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of the combination of OSI-906 and everolimus for the treatment of patients with refractory metastatic colorectal cancer.
This Phase II study is open to patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who have tried but failed chemotherapy regimens containing oxaliplatin and irinotecan. Patients must not have received anti-EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) treatment (for example, cetuximab, panitumumab) in the past. Patients with wild-type KRAS (v-Ki-ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog) colorectal cancer will be randomised to receive either BIBW 2992 or cetuximab. Patients with KRAS mutated colorectal cancer will not be randomised, but will all receive BIBW 2992. The main objectives of the study are: to compare the effectiveness of BIBW 2992 with that of cetuximab in patients with KRAS wild type cancer, and to assess the effectiveness of BIBW 2992 in patients with KRAS mutated cancer.
- There is no data at present concerning the KRAS mutation in patients from Martinique with colorectal cancer. Despite the fact that the incidence of this disease continues to increase there is no recent data to confirm it. This study has a descriptive purpose, allowing a comparison of the population from Martinique to other populations. - A study of incidence of colorectal cancer, overseen by the Association from Martinique for the Epidemiological Search on Cancer (AMREC), also leads to a better knowledge of the local characteristics of the colorectal cancer. - These two descriptive characteristics of colorectal cancer in Martinique will be useful data for the health professionals to provide their patients better care.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the therapeutic effect and the safety of high-dose vitamin D supplementation in metastatic colorectal cancer patients. We propose to supplement metastatic (stage 4) colorectal cancer patients with oral doses of vitamin D to raise serum 25-hydroxy-vitamin D [25(OH)D] levels to the high normal range of 200-250 nmol/L. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the metabolic consequences, including tolerability and toxicity, of prolonged, high-dose physiological vitamin D in patients with colorectal cancer. The secondary objective is to evaluate patient survival with regards to high-dose vitamin D supplementation. Hypothesis: Whereas low doses of vitamin D reportedly play a significant role in prevention of colorectal cancers, do much larger (pharmacological) doses of vitamin D have a significant therapeutic effect against the same kind of cancer?
To evaluate whether a combination regimen of pentoxifylline, ursodeoxycholic acid and enoxaparin provides a protective effect on the liver parenchyma after high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy.
This exploratory, open label study will assess the the dose-effect relationship, efficacy and safety of RO5323441 in patients with metastatic treatment-refractory colorectal or ovarian cancer. Cohorts of patients will receive doses of intravenous RO5323441 in the range of 25mg to 3g every 1 or 2 weeks and will undergo serial dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) assessments. In the absence of disease progression and unacceptable toxicity, patients may continue to receive their maximum dose of RO5323441 for a core treatment phase of up to a total of 6 months. Treatment with RO5323441 can be extended at the investigator's discretion until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurs. Target sample size is <100.
Description of active nutritional support: Early and active nutritional support is mainly concerned with maintaining protein and energy intake levels despite chemotherapy. A part-time nutritionist will be assigned to each research centre. She will cover active nutritional support during a one-hour consultation and assist the investigating oncologist in filling out the e-CRF data. A two-day meeting prior to the beginning of the study will enable the standardization of active nutritional support strategy across all research centres: - The nutritionist will explain the consequences of the side effects of chemotherapy on appetite levels and nutritional status. - Spontaneous oral intake and eating habits will be assessed based on a qualitative and quantitative 3-day food record. - Then the nutritionist will explain to patients how to adapt their diet (fortification, portion control etc.) according to personal preferences and dietary habits, appetite fluctuation and side effects. - A booklet containing an overview of the nutritional counsel, recipe ideas, an example of a daily menu, energy equivalence tables and specific diet and hygiene tips for each possible side effects of chemotherapy will be given to all patients. - During each consultation, patients will be weighed, appetite and food intake will be evaluated (24-hour record except for prospective 3-day record of V0, V3, V6, V9, V12, V13 and V14 consultations), chemotherapy side effects will be recorded and nutritional counsel will be adapted to each patient's individual situation. In case of decrease in food intake and/or weight loss, a protein- and energy-rich oral supplement will be given. In both groups, if a patient exhibits signs of malnutrition (weight loss >5% over a one-month period or > 10% in total) and/or food intake less than 50% of estimated daily requirements, an oral supplement will be given after approval of the oncologist. If this measure is insufficient, artificial nutrition (enteral or parenteral) will be considered.
This study will investigate whether patient navigation can increase rates of colorectal cancer screening among linguistically and culturally diverse disadvantaged patients served by urban community health centers.
