Evaluate the Effects of An AI System on Colonoscopy Quality of Novice Endoscopists

Start date: March 24, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this study, the AI-assisted system EndoAngel has the functions of reminding the ileocecal junction, withdrawal time, withdrawal speed, sliding lens, polyps in the field of vision, etc. These functions can assist novice endoscopists in performing colonoscopy and improve the quality.

NCT ID: NCT05163236 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Sensitivity of Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) for Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening

FITBACK
Start date: April 20, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) was introduced in France late 2015, FIT has better diagnostic accuracy for colorectal cancers (CRCs) than previous screening tests. Our primary objective was to evaluate the sensitivity of FIT and the proportion of interval cancer.

NCT ID: NCT05089071 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Effect of Two Colonoscopy AI Systems for Colon Polyp Detection

Start date: November 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Computer-aided detection (CADe) systems have been actively researched for polyp detection in colonoscopy. The investigators aim to identify the effect of two CADe systems according to the system performance on false positive rate

NCT ID: NCT05088408 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Comparative Study Between Colonoscopy Bowel Preparation With Clear Liquids, With and Without Two Servings of High Energy Nutritional Supplement

Start date: October 30, 2020
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The high energy nutritional supplement Resource® Energy is approved for human nutritional support in various clinical conditions, yet it has been used off-label to alleviate the effects of hunger during bowel preparation for colonoscopy. Its impact in mucosa visualization quality and hunger alleviation is unknown. The product is liquid and nutritious but it is not transparent, thus it is conceivable that it could alleviate the discomfort of hunger during the preparation but possibly compromising mucosa visualization. In this study, participants who will undergo a colonoscopy (requested for an explicit medical indication) will take two bottles of the nutritional supplement during the usual bowel preparation. The quality of mucosal visualization and the participants opinion regarding satiety and product tolerance during bowel preparation will then be analysed.

NCT ID: NCT05076799 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Effect of Lactulose and/or Polyethylene Glycol Solution for Bowel Preparation for Colonscopy Procedures

Start date: September 1, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Colonoscopy is the most useful exam used to evaluate colorectal diseases, like colorectal polyps and cancer. The appropriate bowel preparation is indispensable for colonoscopy procedures. Polyethylene glycol solution (PEG) is the most frequent laxative medication. However, the taste is poor, and patients need to drink a lot of liquids to obtain adequate visualization of the mucosal surface. In fact, no laxative has all the characteristics of an ideal medication. Lactulose is an osmotic laxative which widely used in cirrhosis and constipation patients, and could inhibit bacterial in the colon to increase colon cleanliness and prolong the effect time of PEG. Previous study demonstrate PEG combined with lactulose has a significant improvement in the quality of bowel preparation compared with PEG alone. The present study aim to assess the efficacy of lactulose with or without PEG in bowel preparation to improve mucosal visualization, reduced volume of fluid consumed, and preparation intolerance.

NCT ID: NCT05032794 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Unrestricted Diet for Screening Colonoscopy

CriLiP
Start date: October 13, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Colonoscopy is the technique of choice for the evaluation of the mucosa of the colon. To be able to do the procedure in optimal conditions, it needs to be clean. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a preparation as safe and tolerable as possible. This preparation generally consists in a low residue diet the days before the colonoscopy and in the intake of a laxative solution. In previous studies, it has been shown that the low residue diet does not play a relevant role as it was considered before. Recent studies demonstrated that reducing the days of low residue diet does not worsen the cleansing and improves the patient experience. The results of this study are required for determining the role of diet restrictive diet in colon cleansing.

NCT ID: NCT05027659 Completed - Anxiety Clinical Trials

The Effects of Virtual Reality Glasses on Vital Signs and Anxiety in Patients Undergoing Colonoscopy

Start date: January 2, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present study was conducted with 44 patients who applied to the Endoscopy Unit of a university hospital for sedation-free colonoscopy between January 2, 2020 and September 28, 2020, met the inclusion criteria and agreed to participate in the study. The patients were homogeneously divided into experimental (n=22) and control (n=22) groups based on their gender and history of colonoscopy. The patients in the experimental group watched a 360 degree virtual reailty (VR) video with atmospheric background music over images and sounds of nature through virtual reality glasses while no application was performed for the patients in the control group during the procedure. The "Demographic Information Form", "Trait Anxiety Scale", "Visual Analog Scale-Pain", "Visual Analog Scale-Anxiety", "Vital Signs Monitoring Chart" and "Satisfaction Evaluation on the Virtual Reality Glasses Application" forms were used in the data collection phase. For the study, an ethics committee approval was obtained in addition to written consent by the institutions and patients. Numbers, percentages, the Chi-square test, the Wilcoxon test and the Mann-Whitney U test were used for data analysis.

NCT ID: NCT05012527 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

Retrospective Review of Gastrointestinal System Endoscopy Procedures

RRGIE
Start date: June 11, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of the study is retrospectively evaluating all features of endoscopic and pathological diagnoses of cases who underwent upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy.

NCT ID: NCT04921488 Completed - Clinical trials for Colorectal Neoplasms

Interest of Artificial Intelligence in Cancer Screening Colonoscopy

IA COLO
Start date: October 21, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Artificial Intelligence (AI) to predict the histology of polyps per colonoscopy, offers a promising solution to reduce variation in colonoscopy performance. This new and innovative non-invasive technology will improve the quality of screening colonoscopies, and reduce the costs of colorectal cancer screening. The aim of the study is to performed a cross-sectional, multi-center study evaluating the diagnostic performance of the CAD EYE automatic characterization system for the histology of colonic polyps in colorectal cancer screening colonoscopy.

NCT ID: NCT04895813 Completed - Colonoscopy Clinical Trials

The Effect of Education and Telephone Guidance at Colonoscopy

Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Colonoscopy is an endoscopic procedure for diagnosing colon diseases. Patients should be prepared 2-5 days in advance for this procedure and intestinal cleansing should be provided. This is a difficult process and does not admit mistakes. The adequacy of the patient's pre-preparation for this process increases the chances of success. For preliminary preparation, it is recommended to train the patient and reinforce the trainings by phone. Education given to the patient; It contributes positively to patient outcomes, the workload of healthcare personnel in the institution, and costs. Therefore, this study has been planned.
