NCT ID: NCT01140997 Completed - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

Efficacy and Safety of Ypeginterferon Alfa-2b in Chronic Hepatitis C

PEGIFN
Start date: July 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is a multi-center, randomized, open-label and positive controlled Phase II Clinical trial to assess the efficacy and safety of Ypeginterferon alfa-2b (with Ribavirin), once a week, in 3 dose-groups respectively, for treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C patients, with Pegasys 180mcg/week & Ribavirin as positive control. It is aimed to establish a dose response and safety relationship sufficient to allow the subsequent design and conduct of Phase III trials, and generate the PK data in hepatitis C patients to satisfy regulatory requirements.

NCT ID: NCT01121731 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection

A Phase I/II Clinical Trial With Interferon Alfa 5 in Treatment-Experienced Patients With Genotype-1 Chronic Hepatitis C

Start date: May 2010
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The general aim of this study is to determine if 3 MIU of IFN-α5 in monotherapy, and 1,5 MIU of IFN-α5 combined with 1,5 MIU of IFN- α2b, are safe dose levels as well as to investigate the antiviral efficacy and pharmacodynamics (PD) of such doses and drugs in treatment-experienced HCV patients with genotype 1 chronic infection, after 29 days of treatment. It is also intended to determine pharmacokinetics (PK) of the safe dose achieved of IFN-α5 in monotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT01120795 Completed - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin in Hepatitis C Patients on Opioid Pharmacotherapy

Start date: February 2004
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to see if treatment of chronic hepatitis C in people who are on opiate replacement therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine (including patient who still inject drugs) is safe and effective.

NCT ID: NCT01113814 Completed - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse-Imaging in Comparison to Transient Elastography for Liver Fibrosis Staging in HCV

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI)- Imaging compared to Transient Elastography (FibroScan) in differentiating liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C. Patients who are scheduled to have a liver biopsy will also undergo ARFI and FibroScan testing. The liver biopsy will be used as the reference method. The target sample size is 433.

NCT ID: NCT01095445 Terminated - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

EXtended Therapy in Hepatitis C Genotype 3 Infected Patients

EXACT-R(3)
Start date: February 2010
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of 48 vs 24 weeks of treatment with Peginterferon alfa-2b plus weight-based ribavirin on Sustained Virologic Response (SVR) and relapse rates in patients infected with genotype 3 chronic hepatitis C (CHC) who do not achieve a Rapid Virologic Response (RVR) but attain a complete Early Virologic Response (cEVR).

NCT ID: NCT01080222 Terminated - Clinical trials for Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection

A Safety and Efficacy Study of the Combination of VX-222 and Telaprevir in Treatment-Naïve Subjects With Genotype 1 Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection

Start date: August 2010
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and efficacy of combination treatment with VX-222 and telaprevir administered for 12 weeks with and without peginterferon-alfa-2a and/or ribavirin. The subjects enrolled in this study are chronically infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1 and will not have previously received treatment for their HCV infection. This study will include an Investigational Phase and Extension Phase. These phases will contain a Treatment Period and a Follow-up Period. All subjects will be enrolled in the Investigational Phase of this study. Subjects who fail treatment during the Investigational Phase will have the option to enter the Extension Phase at which point they will be eligible to receive peginterferon alfa-2a and ribavirin for a total of 48 weeks. Based on an evaluation of on-treatment safety, pharmacokinetic and antiviral data from patients in each arm of the trial, Vertex may elect to enroll up to two additional treatment arms (Treatment Arm E and Treatment Arm F) that will evaluate telaprevir/VX-222-based combination therapy. The components of the treatment regimens of these arms will be selected based on clinical data that emerges from the four initially-studied regimens. If enacted, up to 25 patients are expected to enroll in each additional treatment arm. If Treatment Arm E or Treatment Arm F is discontinued subjects meeting certain criteria will have the option to enter a telaprevir-containing Rollover Phase. Subjects who do not meet the eligibility criteria to enter the Rollover Phase may elect to enter the Extension Phase.

NCT ID: NCT01025765 Active, not recruiting - Chronic Hepatitis C Clinical Trials

The Effects of Oral Hypoglycemic Agents on Chronic Hepatitis C Patients Receiving Peg-Intron Plus Ribavirin

Start date: November 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Pegylated interferon in combination with ribavirin is the current standard treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus infection, but is expensive and has several adverse effects. To modify this standard treatment by optimizing its therapeutic effect and decreasing its adverse events are important. Recent studies have identified a close link between metabolic profiles, insulin resistance and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) infection. Several pilot studies in western world have have found beneficial effects of oral hypoglycemic agents on chronic Hepatitis C (CHC) genotype 1 infected patients. Whether this concept still holds true in Taiwanese people remains unknown. The objective of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effect of oral hypoglycemic agents (daily for 4 weeks of run-in period and 8 weeks of combination treatment) on CHC genotype 1 infected Taiwanese patients receiving 48 weeks of Peg-IFN plus ribavirin (RBA), and the enrolled subjects will be randomized into 4 treatment groups (including Acarbose, Metformin, Pioglitazone and standard care control groups). During the trial and 24 weeks after the end of treatment, serial serum HCV RNA, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels, and other clinical data will be evaluated to determine the therapeutic response and adverse events of the CHC patients.
