Therapeutic Efficacy of Quercetin Versus Its Encapsulated Nanoparticle on Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cell Line

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the most common oral cavity carcinoma. Conventional therapeutic modalities for oral malignancy include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy alone or in combinations.The major obstacle of using current anticancer drugs is; first the non-specific tissue distribution, as these drugs are unable to distinguish between normal and cancer cells.Quercetin is a bioactive flavonoid having strong antioxidant properties. .Among all the nanomaterials, polymeric nanoparticles are of significant interest for drug delivery applications due to many unique features of nanoparticle polymers.This is the first study to investigate the anticancer effects of (Quercetin) either free or encapsulated by PLGA-PEG NPs in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) cell line.

Postoperative Radiotherapy for Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma After Neoadjuvant Therapy and Surgery

The treatment guideline for locally advanced resectable oral squamous cell carcinoma (LAROSCC) is surgery + postoperative radiotherapy/chemoradiotherapy. Though the treatment is intensive with serious harm to quality of life, the survival of patients is poor. Neoadjuvant therapy has been evaluated in a number of clinical trials for LAROSCC, but failed to directly improve the overall survival. On the other hand, de-escalation of treatment followed by neoadjuvant is also been explored with some promising results. This study is to retrospectively include patients with LAROSCC who received neoadjuvant therapy and surgery. Survival between patients in two cohorts (cohort 1: received postoperative radiotherapy, cohort 2: received no postoperative radiotherapy) are to be compared.

Peritumoral Microbubbles and CEUS for SLN Detection and Biopsy in HNSCC

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma is the sixth most common malignant tumor in the world. Cervical lymph node metastasis is frequently encounted on the date of diagnosis. Surgical resection is one of the most important treatment methods for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with or without lymph node metastasis. At present, for cN0 patients, prophylactic neck dissection is recommended for squamous cell carcinoma originating in suprglottic, hypopharyngeal and oropharyngeal areas et al. Related studies reported that less than 30% of patients with cN0 were confirmed to have lymph node metastasis in postoperative pathological examination, who underwent neck dissection. Unnecessary neck dissection may increase complication incidence, such as neurovascular injury, chylous leakage, sialosyrinx. Accurate preoperative assessment is helpful to reduce unnecessary neck dissection. Sentinel lymph node biopsy were proved to be effective in reducing prophylactic lymph node dissection in breast cancer, melanoma and other malignant tumors. Compared with γ probe detection and indolyanine green injection, microbubble and contrast-enhanced ultrasound has no radiation and disturbance to resection margins in sentinel lymph nodes detection. Furthermore, surgeons could conduct lymph node puncture biopsy simultaneously under ultrasound guidance, which can further minimize surgical trauma. At present, the role of microbubble and contrast-enhanced ultrasound in sentinel lymph node detection and biopsy is rarely reported in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. This study aims to explore the accuracy of peritumoral microbubbles and contrast-enhanced ultrasound for sentinel lymph nodes biopsy in predicting cervical lymph node metastasis in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

A Study of Pembrolizumab in Combination With Chemotherapy for Head and Neck Cancer

By doing this study, the research team would like to learn if using a blood test that measures the amount of tumor DNA in blood can help guide how to use chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy for individuals with head and neck cancer. Using this blood test, the research team hopes to learn if intermittent (occasional) chemotherapy added to immunotherapy will work better than immunotherapy alone. Participation in this research will last about two years.
