Filter by:To determine if combined [18F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) is performant enough with respect to detecting residual lymph node involvement after chemoradiation in order to omit planned neck dissections in patients with locally advanced potentially operable, N2 and N3 head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Primary study hypothesis: The lower bound of the 95% confidence interval (CI) of the negative predictive value (NPV) of FDG PET/CT to detect residual malignant lymph node involvement at 12 weeks after completing chemoradiation will exceed 85%.
This phase II trial studies how well pralatrexate and oxaliplatin work in treating patients with esophageal, stomach, or gastroesophageal junction cancer that cannot be removed by surgery or has spread from the primary site (place where it started) to other places in the body. Pralatrexate may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as oxaliplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving pralatrexate with oxaliplatin may be an effective treatment for esophageal, stomach, or gastroesophageal junction cancer.
The primary objective of this trial is to assess the antitumor activity and safety profile of cetuximab when given in combination with cisplatin + 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) for the first-line treatment of recurrent and/or metastatic Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Head and Neck (SCCHN) in Asian subjects.
This study will compare TNFE-NBI and biopsy, with DRE and biopsy for the diagnostic evaluation and staging of patients with suspicious UADT lesions. All patients enrolled in the study will undergo TNFE-NBI with biopsy of suspicious lesions prior to planned regular clinical care (DRE). Biopsies will be evaluated by standard clinical methods for patient diagnoses and care. As the current standard of care, if all biopsies for a given patient are non-malignant, a 3 month office visit will be arranged to evaluate and determine the need for further intervention. At the end of study enrollment both sets of biopsies will be re-evaluated in a blinded fashion by the surgical pathologist. Study assessment of malignant vs. non-malignant (benign) pathology will be used to see whether both tests tended to agree on diagnoses.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether temsirolimus is effective in the treatment of relapsed/recurrent squamous cell cancer of the head and neck (HNSCC)
The purpose of this Phase 3 study is to evaluate overall survival and progression free survival following intravenous administration of REOLYSIN (Reovirus Serotype 3 Dearing) in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin versus chemotherapy treatment alone, in patients with metastatic or recurrent Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Head and Neck.
Brief Summary: RATIONALE: Comparing results of diagnostic procedures, such as esophagoscopy, done before and after radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy may help doctors predict a patient's response to treatment and help plan the best treatment. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is studying esophagoscopy in evaluating treatment in patients with stage I-IV head and neck cancer who are undergoing radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.
This study is being conducted to learn about the safety and risks of using talimogene laherparepvec to treat patients with head and neck cancer and to see if talimogene laherparepvec and chemoradiation together can destroy the tumours versus the use of chemoradiation alone. This study may provide information on the usefulness of talimogene laherparepvec combined with chemoradiation as a future treatment for head and neck cancer.
This pilot clinical trial studies L-lysine in treating oral mucositis in patients undergoing radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy for head and neck cancer. L-lysine may lessen the severity of oral mucositis, or mouth sores in patients receiving radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy for head and neck cancer
The goal of this clinical research study is to learn which chemotherapy combination is more effective in treating locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. The side effects of these combinations will also be studied.
