Filter by:The purpose of this study is to determine if sorafenib (sorafenib tosylate) is a safe and effective treatment option for preventing liver cancer in high risk patients following liver transplantation. Liver transplantation is a treatment option for liver cancer patients, but despite transplantation, the liver cancer can recur in the new, transplanted liver. It is not known whether sorafenib is effective in preventing cancer recurrence in high risk patients following liver transplantation
The study is being conducted for the following reasons: 1. To determine the prevalence, course, and predictors of poor Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) outcomes associated with living donor donation. 2. To collect data and biosamples prior to, during, and after a living donor liver transplant (LDLT) among all donors and recipients for use by other adult-to-adult living donor liver transplant studies and future studies. 3. To study the effects of pressure and flow on the outcomes of LDLT. 4. To characterize the differences between living donor liver transplant and deceased donor liver transplant in terms of recipient post-transplant outcomes including patient and graft survival, surgical morbidity, and resource utilization. 5. To compare the long-term histological outcomes in recipients of LDLT and deceased donor liver transplant (DDLT) with recurrent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. 6. To understand the history of pain management and to measure quality of care in pain control in living donors following partial hepatectomy.
The aims of this three-year study are to: 1. From patients and family perspective to explore the needs for home care after receiving TACE, PEI, and RFA 2. Develop a telephone follow-up and consultation program and examine its effect on self-efficacy, anxiety, depression and quality of life in liver cancer patients receiving non-surgical treatment.

This is a study to evaluate the primovist as a new contrast agent useful to diagnostic of hepatocellular carcinoma
The primary objective is to determine if the administration of a combination of sofosbuvir (SOF; GS-7977; PSI-7977) and ribavirin (RBV) to HCV-infected subjects with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) meeting the MILAN criteria prior to undergoing liver transplantation for up to 24 weeks can prevent post-transplant re-infection as determined by a sustained post-transplant virological response (HCV RNA < LLoQ) at 12 weeks post-transplant. Participants will enroll in the pretransplant treatment phase (24 or 48 weeks). Participants enrolling for 24 weeks in the pretransplant treatment phase may receive treatment for up to an additional 24 weeks in the pretransplant retreatment phase. Participants enrolling for 48 weeks in the pretransplant treatment will have a second baseline at Week 24 for combined analysis in the pretransplant retreatment phase. Participants who undergo liver transplant will stop all study drug 24 hours prior to transplant, and enter a 48-week follow-up phase to monitor for recurrent HCV infection.
The safety and effectiveness of TheraSphere will be evaluated in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma in whom treatment with standard-of-care sorafenib is planned. All patients receive the standard-of-care sorafenib with or without the addition of TheraSphere.
Therasphere will be administered via catheter through the Hepatic Artery to treat patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Portal vein Thrombosis.
The purposes of this prospective study were to evaluate the successful rate of primary culture of hepatocellular carcinoma cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts from the residual specimens in routine fine-needle aspiration of hepatic tumor and the potential application of this method as an additional tool for personalized treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma patients.
This is a Phase Ib, open-label, multiple-center, multiple-dose study designed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and safety of vismodegib in patients with advanced solid malignancies (including hepatocellular carcinoma and lymphoma) that are refractory to standard therapy or for whom no standard therapy exists.
