MRI Brain (Volumetry, fMRI & MRS) in Autism

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

To reach a feasible method for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) outcome measures: 1. Primary (main): Measurement of various brain structures, including the total brain volume, the volumes of specific brain regions (such as the amygdala, hippocampus, and cerebellum), and the thickness of the cortex. Detection of other concurrent lesions, e.g. tuberous sclerosis 2. Secondary (subsidiary): levels of various neurotransmitters, such as glutamate and GABA, and other metabolites, such as N-acetyl aspartate (NAA), in specific regions of the brain Assessing neural activity and connectivity in the brain in the resting state

Start date: November 30, 2022
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is an 18 to 54 week study assessing the efficacy of Full-Spectrum Medicinal Cannabis Plant Extract 0.08% THC (NTI164) on the severity of autism spectrum disorder in young people.

HR-EEG Contribution in Prognostic Evaluation of Language Development in Children With ASD

EE-TSA-LANG
Start date: January 2, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this prospective observational multicentric cohort study is to evaluate the clinical prognostic value of the speech tracking score of language development in children with ASD aged from 3 years to 4 years and half at inclusion. Participants will followed during 4 years with an annual visit. During these visits, each participant will be clinically evaluated (scales and tests) and performed an EEG-HR recording. Two groups will be formed, one with children diagnosed with ASD with language delay, and a control group composed of non-ASD children without language delay, matched on age and gender with the ASD group.

Leveraging Autism Intervention for Families Using Telehealth (LIFT)

LIFT
Start date: November 1, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the LIFT study is to develop a technology-assisted adaptation of the JASPER (Joint Attention, Symbolic Play, Engagement, and Regulation: Kasari et al., 2021) social communication intervention for young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In partnership with community early intervention (EI) and early childhood special education (ECSE) practitioners in Oregon, implementation strategies to help caregivers learn to the use the intervention strategies with their young children will delivered in a pilot randomized trial. The pilot trial will compare primarily self-directed learning through online materials and brief practitioner support (ONLINE) with the addition of live synchronous coaching (ONLINE + COACH) on caregivers' strategy use (primary) and children's joint engagement and social communication (secondary).

NCT ID: NCT05512637 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Screening for Neurodevelopmental Disorders in Siblings of Children With Autism Diagnosed in Tertiary Centers

FRATSA
Start date: November 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

In this study, a selective and multi-stages screening for neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) in siblings of children with a confirmed ASD is done. The main aims are to estimate the prevalence of NDD among siblings and to evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of a standardized screening procedure.

NCT ID: NCT05509231 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Effects of a Multimodal Exercise Program for Children With ASD

Start date: January 12, 2024
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Exploring the effects of an exercise program for children ages 6 -26 years old who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and neurotypical children respond to high-intensity whole body exercise interventions (Group 1), training using a sensory glove and armband (Group 2), no-intervention control (waitlist control) (Group 3). Approximately 50 children and adolescents will volunteer to participate in this program with participants parents' (or legal guardians') permission. This study will be conducted at an off-site pediatric occupational therapy facility Inclusive Sports and Fitness, Inc. (ISF).

NCT ID: NCT05442229 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Autism Spectrum Disorder

A Cross-sectional Study to Evaluate Speech and Language Development in Chinese Children Aged 2-6 Years

Start date: July 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to establish a new Chinese children's speech and language norm by obtaining the latest data of speech and language development of children aged 2 ~ 6 from different regions in China. At the same time, the overall development level and group differences of speech and language in Chinese children aged 2 to 6 years, and the influencing factors of speech and language development in Chinese children aged 2 to 6 years were also discussed.

NCT ID: NCT05302544 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Impact of Mixed Reality Training on Motor Skills in Children With Autistic Spectrum Disorder

RAMAu
Start date: May 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

People with autistic spectrum disorder frequently present impaired motricity, or at least different motricity from neurotypical subjects (walking; postural balance; fine motor skills; motor control, etc.). Motor impairment can have impact on the performance and learning of simple tasks (bathing, dressing, writing, using tools, etc.), especially in children and teenagers. These last years, new therapeutics such as Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality technologies have developed. Their therapeutic interest has been identified in various pathologies like phobia. However, their influence on motor skills has been little studied. The first results obtained with disabled adults described a significant increase in walking speed after a 3-month Mixed Reality training.

e-GOLIAH in Autistic Spectrum Disorders

e-GOLIAH-ECO
Start date: June 15, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Randomized open-label study comparing children aged 3 to 6 years with autism and normal cognitive development or mild cognitive impairment receiving the usual treatment plus intensive use of eGOLIAH (experimental group) with children receiving only the usual treatment (control group). eGOLIAH (Gaming Open Library for Intervention in Autism at Home) is an accessible online platform for digital games inspired by the principles of the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), one of the care programs validated in the management of young ASD. The duration per patient will be one year. The exposure to e-GOLIAH for the experimental group will be done with the recommendation of intensive exposure to the game (5 sessions> ½ hour per week). Clinical variables will be assessed at entry, 6 months and 1 year (end of study). The EQ5D questionnaires will be collected by the supervising therapist during the follow-up visit and at the same time as the clinical variables.
