NCT ID: NCT03940651 Terminated - Anesthesia Clinical Trials

Cardiac and Renal Biomarkers in Arthroplasty Surgery

Start date: September 4, 2019
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The investigators will compare the effect of spinal anesthesia to general anesthesia on the level of high sensitivity cardiac biomarkers in patients undergoing hip or knee arthroplasty. The investigators will also measure renal biomarkers in urine to evaluate kidney injury in the postoperative period.

NCT ID: NCT03260699 Terminated - Arthropathy of Knee Clinical Trials

Economic and Functional Impact of Peri-Operative Bracing for Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA)

Start date: October 5, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

While bracing has been shown to be beneficial for patients with osteoarthritis (OA) in terms of function and strength, whether these unloader braces are also similarly beneficial after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery needs to be examined. Therefore the investigators questioned whether wearing a brace that has previously been shown to increase strength and function in OA patients can also increase strength and function in patients after TKA.

NCT ID: NCT03185117 Terminated - Opioid Use Clinical Trials

Opioid Consumption After Hospital Discharge in Orthopedic Surgery

Start date: September 1, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

At the Ohio State University, and across the country, surgical patients admitted to the hospital are over-prescribed a significant amount of opioid medications upon discharge to home. Recent studies reveal that a large percentage of patients prescribed opioid medications after surgery have approximately half of the prescribed medication left over. This study aims to evaluate reported opioid use after surgery in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery in order to better approach the issue with current opioid use and abuse trends while still providing adequate medical care and pain management to patients

NCT ID: NCT00965146 Terminated - Arthropathy of Knee Clinical Trials

Scorpio® Cruciate Retaining (CR) Outcomes Study

Start date: June 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the design and functional performance of the Scorpio® Cruciate Retaining (CR) Total Knee System.
