Pilot Study of the Safety and Efficacy of Apremilast in Subjects With Moderate to Severe Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata (AA) is a medical condition, in which the hair falls out in patches. The hair can fall out on the scalp or elsewhere on the face and body. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune skin disease, which means that the immune system is recognizing the hair follicles as foreign and attacking them, causing round patches of hair loss. It can progress to total scalp hair loss (alopecia totalis) or complete body hair loss (alopecia universalis). The scalp is the most commonly affected area, but the beard or any hair-bearing site can be affected alone or together with the scalp. Alopecia areata occurs in males and females of all ages, and is a highly unpredictable condition that tends to recur. Alopecia areata can cause significant distress to both patients and their families. In this study, the aim to assess the effects of a new treatment called apremilast in patients with alopecia areata. A total of 30 patients will be included in the study, which will run for a total of 52 weeks.

A Pilot Study of Tralokinumab in Subjects With Moderate to Severe Alopecia Areata

The purpose of this study is to assess whether tralokinumab can be a helpful treatment for alopecia areata. This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study of a total of 30 subjects with moderate to severe alopecia areata involving 30-100% of the scalp. Expected is 50% of these subjects to have concomitant alopecia areata (AA) and atopic dermatitis (AD). Subjects with AA alone (15 subjects) will be randomized (2:1) to either receive tralokinumab or placebo via subcutaneous injection every 2 weeks for 24 weeks. Subjects with concomitant alopecia areata and atopic dermatitis (15 subjects) will be randomized separately in a 2:1 ratio to receive tralokinumab or placebo via subcutaneous injection every 2 weeks for 24 weeks.

EValuation of the Impact of a TOpical Lotion on Permanent Chemotherapy Induced Hair Disorders in Cancer Survivors

This study aims to evaluate the Impact of a topical Lotion, CG428, on permanent chemotherapy induced hair and scalp disorders in Cancer survivors. This is a double-blind, single center, randomized, controlled trial in breast cancer survivors. Hair condition and parameters of 61 breast cancer survivors who were previously included in DERMA study (a prospective cohort study to assess appearance changes due to breast cancer treatment completed in July, 13th,2013) will be assessed. 1. Patients whose hair parameters are below the baseline as measured before the start of the chemotherapy or 2. who complain from incomplete hair regrowth will be eligible to participate in the randomized controlled trial. Patients who agree to participant in the study will be randomly assigned to two parallel arms (Arm 1: CG428/ Arm 2: Placebo). Patients will self-administer the study product or placebo twice per day (morning, evening) for 6 months, for the efficacy assessment. Primary endpoint was recovery of hair thickness 6 months after intervention as assessed using Folliscope 4.0. Secondary endpoints included hair density at 6 months after intervention, distress due to chemotherapy induced alopecia, scalp skin parameters (water and sebum). Patient-reported hair quality improvement, body image and quality of life, and time to first visible improvement based on global photographs of hair and nails.

Hair Fall in Patients on Low Dose Methotrexate

Low dose methotrexate used in rheumatoid arthritis is considered very safe and has a side effect profile very different from that seen with high dose methotrexate used in oncology. Hair fall has been found to occur in high dose methotrexate but there is no data regarding the same when methotrexate is used in low dose.Thus this observational case control study is being undertaken to determine whether rheumatoid arthritis patients really need to be concerned about hair fall when on low dose methotrexate.
