NCT ID: NCT05732909 Recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

The Metabolic Effects of β-hydroxybutyrate on Working Skeletal Muscle

Start date: December 22, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to test ketone bodies in healthy elderly and young individuals. The main question it aims to answer are: • Do ketone bodies improve skeletal muscle function? Participants will ingest a ketone monoester and skeletal muscle function will then be evaluated by: - Special magnetic imaging techniques - Intravenous infusion of tracer-marked nutrients - Performance tests on a ergometer bike and in a dynamometer Researchers will compare the outcomes between within the young and elderly groups and between the young and the elderly group to investigate if age has an effect on the outcomes.

NCT ID: NCT05731362 Withdrawn - Aging Clinical Trials

An ESD Model of Care for Older Adults Admitted to Hospital: a Protocol for a Descriptive Cohort Study

Start date: January 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The MidWest multidisciplinary Community Intervention Teams (MD-CIT) comprise of specialist, healthcare teams that provide a rapid and integrated response to a patient with an acute episode of illness who requires enhanced services/acute intervention for a defined short period of time in the MidWest of Ireland. This is provided in the patient's home, thereby facilitating early discharge from the acute hospital setting. The investigators are performing an evaluation of the MDCIT service provided to older adults admitted to UL Hospitals Group. The investigators will assess patients in hospital, at 30 days and at a six months.

NCT ID: NCT05727748 Completed - Aging Clinical Trials

Effects of an Exercise Program With Augmented Reality

Start date: May 3, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objectives of the present research is to observe the effects of a multimodal program with augmented reality on cognition, functional fitness, quality of life, and physical activity in older people.

NCT ID: NCT05727254 Recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

Agility Training for Older Adults to Improve Fall Risk Factors

AgilE
Start date: July 13, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In this randomized controlled trial the effect of 4 months of multi-component (strength, balance, cognition, endurance) exercise training intervention on measures of neuromuscular performance, cognition, and endurance as well as neural adaptations on a central and peripheral level is investigated. 40 subjects are recruited that are generally health and between 60 and 80 years of age. The interventions is based around exercises, where different tasks have to be solved simultaneously rather than serially, as has previously been done.

NCT ID: NCT05725668 Recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

A Study of Dual-task Exercise Training to Prevent Falls Among Older Adults With Mild Cognitive Impairment

Start date: July 15, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To determine the efficacy of a dual-task tai ji quan training therapy in reducing the incidence of falls in older adults with mild cognitive impairment.

NCT ID: NCT05724589 Active, not recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

The Effectiveness of Epidermal Growth Factor Serum in Improve Facial Skin Hydration, Elasticity, Pigmentation, and Wrinkles.

Start date: January 30, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

EGF is a polypeptide that promotes cell differentiation and collagen production while decreasing melanin production. This study is designed to study its effectiveness in improving the texture and appearance of facial skin after daily topical application. We hypothesized that EGF would improve facial skin hydration, elasticity, pigmentation, and wrinkles.

NCT ID: NCT05722860 Recruiting - Aging Clinical Trials

L-Citrulline and Endothelial Function

Start date: January 3, 2024
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The effect of L-Citrulline is well studied in relation to muscle strength, exhaustion, exercise performance, and endothelial function in health and disease. This study will extend current body of knowledge and will investigate the effect of L-Citrulline on brain vascular function.
