Filter by:The main objective of the CanMoRe study is to evaluate the impact of a standardized and individually adapted exercise intervention in Primary Health Care aiming at improving physical function (primary outcome) and habitual physical activity, health related quality of life, fatigue and psychological well-being in patients undergoing radical cystectomy due to urinary bladder cancer.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect synchronous use of nivolumab in addition to chemoradiotherapy in patients withnon-metastatic MIBC who are not candidates for radical cystectomy
This study is designed as Phase II/III. Phase II is aimed to evaluate safety and efficacy of Simmtecan and the 5-FU/LV regimen (FOLFSIM regimen) plus Toripalimab. Phase III is aimed to verify inferiority of the overall survival of FOLFSIM regimen plus Toripalimab in comparison with EP/EC in advanced or metastatic neuroendocrine cancer.
Bladder cancer is the fourth reason of neoplasia in our environment, there are 25 new cases diagnosed per 100,000 inhabitants each year. To decrease the recurrence there are two standardized treatments: Mitomycin as chemotherapy drug and BCG *Bacile Calmette-Guérin" as immunotherapy drug. BCG Moreau strain is not authorized by AEMPS, it was developed in Brazil and this country has extensive experience in treatment of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer with BCG Moreau, also BCG Moreau Rio de Janeiro make same immunological reaction as TICE, but with less adverse events. Thus, BCG Moreau RJ treatment could be used more time than TICE with the same dose, keeping immunologic status and better prophylaxis of recurrence or progression results for the patient. Each patient will be instillated via transurethral each time with 80 mg of IMUNO BCG Moreau RJ. There are 15 instillations during the clinical trial, 6 instillations on induction phase and 9 will be performed during maintaince phase.
This is an open-label, window of opportunity platform study for subjects with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) who are deemed ineligible or refuse cisplatin-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy and are scheduled to undergo definitive surgery (radical cystectomy), or are planning to undergo trimodality therapy (maximal transurethral resection of the bladder tumor followed by concurrent chemoradiation). The primary objective of this study is to assess changes to immunogenomic markers after treatment with pembrolizumab alone and in combination with the selective class I histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor (entinostat).
The purpose of the study to compare two established methods of radical cystectomy (RC) in patients with bladder cancer. The participants will be treated under conditions in alignment with up-to-date guidelines and care. We wish to investigate whether it is feasible to compare the two methods under conditions of the highest methodological quality.
The goal of the Flemish Databank for Urothelial Cancer is to collect clinical and pathological data of patients treated for urothelial cancer (UC).
This is a prospective observational study looking at urine samples from participants under referral for a standard of care investigative cystoscopy and biopsy. The study aims to test if the UroX™ biomarker (a measurable indicator of a biological condition) can be detected in urine samples from participants who may later test positive following a biopsy for bladder cancer. The study aims to assess the value of the biomarker as a screening tool for bladder cancer. Patients with and those without bladder cancer are required for the study.
Non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), which comprises approximately 75% of bladder tumors, has the highest recurrence rate of all cancers, with around 70% of the patients developing local recurrences, despite elaborated treatments. Uromonitor is a completely Non-Invasive urine based IVD diagnosis test. It´s able to detect Non-muscle invasive bladder cancer with 100% sensitivity and 97,3 % specificity. Regardless of Tumor stage and grade (unlike Cytology). The rate of Uromonitor false positives (2,3%) is actually lower than the rate of Cystoscopy false positives (3,5%).
About two-thirds of newly diagnosed cases of bladder cancer are non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). It is advocated that patients with high-risk NMIBC receive an adjuvant course of intravesical Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) as first-line treatment. However, a substantial proportion of patients will 'fail' BCG. Radical cystectomy remains the treatment of choice for NMIBC who have failed intravesical therapy, but there are situations when surgery is not feasible due to competing co-morbidities or a patient's desire for bladder preservation. For these patients, the potential options available are limited. In MIBC, radiotherapy (RT) in association with chemotherapy, has been shown to produce 10-year overall survival rates comparable to those of radical cystectomy in selected cases. At the opposite, results from trials assessing radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy in patients with NMIBC are less documented and discordant. Immunotherapy with immune-checkpoint blockade therapies is increasing as an option and has shown very promising results for several cancers, including bladder carcinoma. An established body of published work has shown that radiation enhances many of the steps needed for the generation of antigen-specific immune responses, including inflammatory tumor-cell death, dendritic cell activation, and antigen cross-presentation. Several groups have reported improved local control when checkpoint blockade immunotherapy is added to radiation in different tumor types. On the one hand, radiotherapy might stimulate the induction of local endogenous immune responses by anti-PD-1 treatment. On the other hand, active immune stimulation by anti-PD-1 treatment within the tumor microenvironment might maximize radiation-induced antitumor immunity. Combination immunoradiotherapy using PD-1/PD-L1 signaling blockade could therefore offer an interesting strategy in bladder tumors, especially as an optional bladder preservation treatment for BCG unresponsive NMIBC. The originality of the therapeutic strategy is the use of radiation (local treatment) combined with checkpoint blockade immunotherapy (systemic treatment). Radiotherapy might increase response rates by creating a more permissive tumor microenvironment through increasing PD-L1 expression on tumor cells and stimulating the accumulation and activation of CD8+ T cells. Avelumab seems to have a specific cytotoxic activity suggesting its interest in local control of the disease, especially in association with radiotherapy.
