NCT ID: NCT00651196 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Bone Health in Type 1 Diabetes

DMB
Start date: January 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

An increased skeletal fracture risk in diabetes has only recently been recognized. This human study is designed to elucidate the effect of Type 1 diabetes on bone remodeling and on structure.

NCT ID: NCT00649246 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Prospective Assessment in Newborns for Diabetes Autoimmunity

PANDA
Start date: July 1997
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This is an observational study designed to help researchers understand the genetics and pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes, and to identify biomarkers for disease and disease complication prediction.

NCT ID: NCT00644501 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Long-Term Treatment Effect of DiaPep277 in Type 1 Diabetes

Start date: September 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The study is an open-label extension study, offering patients who participated and completed previous study 901 to continue treatment with DiaPep277 and clinical follow-up, for 2 additional years. The expectation is first to demonstrate that extended treatment with DiaPep277 is safe and second to evaluate the long-term effectiveness of treatment. Only patients who completed the previous 2-year study and still have beta-cell function above a threshold level will be eligible for this extension study.

NCT ID: NCT00643110 Withdrawn - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Milk as Treatment for Hypoglycemia

Start date: April 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Test hypothesis that milk can raise blood sugars as well as orange juice or glucose tablets without raising blood sugars too much the way that orange juice or glucose tablets sometimes do.

NCT ID: NCT00629304 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Multicenter Assessment of the PDA-FIT System in Type 1 Diabetic Patients

TELEDIAB-1
Start date: September 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

TELEDIAB-1 is a national, multicenter, controlled, randomised trial. The Primary objective of the TELEDIAB-1 study is to demonstrate that the PDA-FIT system (PDA-Phone and/or telemonitoring) is able to improve metabolic control of chronically uncontrolled type 1 diabetic patients, despite intensive insulin therapy (multiple daily injections with basal-bolus insulin or insulin pump), as compared with conventional care. Main judgment criteria: comparison of HbA1c means between the 3 groups at 6 months

NCT ID: NCT00626080 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Insulin Detemir Action in Cerebro

INcEREBRO
Start date: January 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to test the hypothesis that subcutaneous administration of insulin detemir, as compared to insulin NPH, leads to a more pronounced effect on cerebral glucose metabolism and/or cerebral blood flow in brain regions associated with appetite regulation, to account for the reported difference in weight.

NCT ID: NCT00615368 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Treatment With Erythropoietin and Cognition During Hypoglycaemia

Start date: May 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the trial is to determine if erythropoietin (EPO) can enhance cognitive function during hypoglycaemia in patients with type 1 diabetes. Patients with type 1 diabetes will receive one injection of EPO. Hypoglycaemia will be induced 6 days after. Before (1 hour), during and after (1 hour) hypoglycaemia, the cognitive function will be measured.

NCT ID: NCT00615264 Completed - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Efficacy Study of DiaPep277 in Newly Diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes Patients

DIA-AID
Start date: September 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine if DiaPep277 can effectively protect the internal production of insulin in patients newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, by stopping the immune destruction of insulin-producing beta-cells in the pancreas. DiaPep277 acts on the immune system and is expected to prevent further destruction of the beta-cells by stimulating regulatory responses, without causing immunological suppression.

NCT ID: NCT00608816 Withdrawn - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Hypoglycemia Associated Autonomic Failure in Type 1 DM, Q4

Start date: n/a
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Epinephrine is one of the important hormones in the defense of hypoglycemia. We will test the hypothesis that antecedent hypoglycemia will blunt the metabolic, neuroendocrine and cardiovascular effects of subsequent epinephrine infusion in Type 1 DM.

NCT ID: NCT00608101 Withdrawn - Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Trials

Hypoglycemia Associated Autonomic Failure in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

Start date: September 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine what corticosteroid receptor (and the dose of) is responsible for cortisol inducing hypoglycemia associated autonomic dysfunction in Type 1 DM. Specifically, we aim to determine whether stimulating the type 1 corticosteroid receptor (via fludrocortisone), the type 2 corticosteroid receptor (via dexamethasone), or both causes hypoglycemia associated autonomic dysfunction in Type 1 DM.
