Filter by:This study will see if the use of near infrared autofluorescence (NIRAF) detection with a 'Parathyroid Eye (PTeye)' for identifying parathyroid glands (PGs) during total thyroidectomy (TTx) is better than surgeon's detection alone. It compares risk, benefits and outcomes in TTx patients where NIRAF detection with PTeye for parathyroid identification is either used or not used.
Primary Objective: To preliminarily evaluate the efficacy of the treatment regimen of HBM9161 680 mg administered subcutaneously weekly and sequentially every other week for 12 weeks in Chinese patients with active moderate to severe TED.
This phase IV trial studies the effect of radiofrequency ablation in treating patients with benign or low risk thyroid nodule. Radiofrequency ablation uses a needle to deliver a high-frequency electric current to kill tumor cells by heating them. The goal of this research study is to learn if ultrasound guided radiofrequency ablation can provide the same treatment result as standard surgical removal of the thyroid nodule, small primary thyroid, or thyroid cancers that have come back. Researchers also want to learn if the procedure can be less invasive and perhaps provide a better recovery response than surgery.
Post operative sore throat after general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation is a common problem causing dissatisfaction and discomfort to the patients. The investigators want to study the effect of tramadol on postoperative sore throat in general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation.
This study was conducted in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer who had undergone total/near-total thyroidectomy. After surgery patients were randomized to one of two methods of performing thyroid remnant ablation. One group of patients who took thyroid hormone medicine and were euthyroid [i.e. their thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels are normal], and received injections of rhTSH (0.9 mg daily on two consecutive days) followed by oral radioiodine. The second group of patients did not take thyroid hormone medicine so that they were hypothyroid (i.e. their TSH levels were high), and were given oral radioiodine.
Now, the investigators carried out a prospective study enrolling patients with thyroid cancer, who had received ablative thyroidectomy and /or radioactive iodine therapy for two more years. The investigators' study already enrolled seventy-three patients with thyroid cancer, and the investigators plan to enroll 30 new patients in this consecutive research study. All patients received total thyroidectomy under clinically surgical judgement in initial therapeutic option. The investigators also further found some difference between papillary thyroid cancer and follicular thyroid cancer, and the investigators will continue annually to closely monitor the change of U-Ex Tg and urinary exosomal galectin-3 between differently cellular types of thyroid cancers.
Thyroid autoimmunity(TAI) per se have adverse effect on pregnancy outcomes, and aspirin and prednisone were used frequently in antithyroid antibodies(ATA) positive infertile women in clinical practice, but the impact of these medicines is still controversial. Therefore, aim of the study was to investigate whether or not the treatment of prednisone in addition to aspirin was capable of improving reproductive outcomes in euthyroid infertile women.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether Sirolimus is more effective and burdened with less side effects than conventional treatment with corticosteroids in patients with active thyroid eye disease.
The investigators' aim is to enroll around 2000 patients from Taipei, Keelung, Linkou, Chiayi and Kaohsiung CGMH. All participants will receive universal thyroid function screening at 1st trimester, and those who was found to have hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism will be referred to Endocrine department for further treatment. All participants will be followed at outpatient clinic, and their obstetric visit finding will be recorded. The maternal and neonatal outcomes will be analyzed.
This study evaluates the viability and safety of no drainage tube placement during transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach in treatment of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma.
