Filter by:Therapeutic management of supraspinatus tendinopathy is conflicting. There is evidence that eccentric exercise protocols can be effective for this condition. The inclusion of other therapeutic modalities could help to the management of these patients. A new therapeutic approach, called Electrolysis Percutaneous Therapeutic (EPTE) has been clinically developed. The objective of this randomized clinical trial is to determine the effectiveness of the inclusion of EPTE into a eccentric exercise protocol for the management of patients with unilateral supraspinatus tendinopathy
Biceps pathology typically includes pain in the anterior shoulder that is reproduced with provocative maneuvers. However, optimal treatment of patient with this diagnosis is not clear and can include tenotomy (cutting the biceps) or various forms of tenodesis (cutting then reattaching). As tenotomy can lead to cosmetic deformity and anterior humeral discomfort from spasms, many surgeons perform tenodesis. There are various techniques for tenodesis. This study will compare 2 methods: suprapectoral (doing the surgery using an incision higher in the shoulder) versus subpectoral fixation (surgery which involves making an incision lower in the shoulder). Purpose of the study is to prospectively determine whether arthroscopic suprapectoral or open subpectoral biceps tenodesis results in better function.
Needle aspiration of calcific deposits (NACD ) is the treatment of choice for calcific tendinitis which does not respond to conservative treatment. NACD is effective in approximately 70% of the patients.When NACD is not effective, surgery is often the only treatment that remains.Surgery, however, is discouraged by th e Dutch guidelines for diagnosing and treating patients with subacromial pain syndrome.Therefore,both patients and the doctors treating those patients will benefit from a more effective minimal invasive treatment for calcific tendinitis.Injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) might, considering its positive effect on tissue repair, be a possible solution here.Previous research investigating the effects of PRP on other tendinopathies did, however, show controversial results. The aim of this double-blind randomized controlled trial is to investigate the effect of the adjuvant application of PRP after NACD on pain reduction ,recovery of shoulder function, tendon recovery,resorption of calcific deposits, the percentage of patients with persistent complaints and quality of life.
This is a randomized controlled clinical trial to investigate the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for treatment of patellar tendinopathy in adults 18-50 years of age. Subjects will be randomly assigned to three parallel treatment groups: 1. Leukocyte-rich PRP injection + exercise 2. Leukocyte-poor PRP injection + exercise 3. Saline injection + exercise (control) Primary endpoints are (1) the number (rate) and severity of adverse events as reported by both patients and study physicians during the first 12 weeks after initiation of treatment, (2) patient-rated tolerability of treatment; (3) the change in function (VISA score) and treatment success (global improvement scale) over six months of a post-injection exercise protocol.
This study is looking at a new treatment, using the patient's own stem cells (the repair cells of the body), to see whether this can help reduce pain and promote healing of the Achilles tendon, without side effects.
The purpose of this research study is to determine if Astym® treatment is an effective treatment for patients with Achilles pain. The usual treatment for this condition is a specific exercise program that has been previously shown to be effective. The research team is trying to determine if combining Astym with the exercise program is more effective than exercise program only. The main hypothesis for this study is that Astym plus eccentric exercise will be more effective than eccentric exercise alone at improving pain and function in patients with insertional Achilles tendinopathy.

The primary objective of this study is to compare OSTENIL® TENDON (2% hyaluronan) and Extracorporeal Shock Wave (ESWT) therapy in the treatment of painful Achilles tendinopathy.
At Saint-Antoine's hospital, in CETD a multidisciplinary team takes care of patients with chronic pain. Free-drug techniques are available to reduce their consumption of analgesics. This study is to assess the relief obtained by the simultaneous combination of these two techniques: transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and hypnosis.
The overall objective of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the treatment of degenerative rotator cuff tendinopathy using the application of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF). Main objective: To show more effectiveness after 6 months of treatment with PRGF, with an improvement in the reference test of more than 15% compared to the treatment with corticosteroids. Secondary objective: - To assess the efficacy of the treatment after 12 months. - Quantification of platelet levels in patients treated with plasma rich in growth factors and its correlation with the clinical effect.
