Artificial Intelligence Augmented Training in Skin Cancer Diagnostics for Skin Cancer Specialists

Background: The worldwide incidence of skin cancer has been rising for 50 years, in particular the incidence of malignant melanoma has increased approx. 2-7% annually and is the most common cancer amongst Danes aged 15-34. Currently there is a significant amount of misdiagnosis of skin cancer and mole cancer, and most excised skin lesions are benign. Previous studies have shown that there is no significant increase in doctors diagnostic accuracy during the first 6 years of clinical work. The resources spend on healthy people could be put to better use, if the Benign-Malignant Ratio could be lowered. This could potentially be done by better educating the doctors during their everyday clinical practice. Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the dose/response effect of an AI augmented training and clinical feedback on the diagnostic accuracy of skin cancer and clinical decisions among doctors from specialized skin cancer centers. Research question: How much specialized doctors need to train before their diagnostic accuracy and clinical decisions change?

Chemoprevention Trial of Acitretin Versus Placebo in Patients at High Risk for Basal Cell Carcinoma or Squamous Cell Carcinoma

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of acitretin may stop cancer from growing in patients at high risk for basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma of the skin. PURPOSE: This randomized trial is studying how well acitretin works in preventing skin cancer in patients at high risk for skin cancer.

Skin cancer, which is among the most common types of cancer, is increasing every year in many countries in the world such as Australia, America, New Zealand, and in Turkey. The most dangerous type of skin cancer with a high mortality risk is melanoma. According to the Turkish Cancer Statistics, melanoma is among the ten most common cancer types among children aged 0-14 years. This situation constitutes a public health problem. Aim: This research was planned to determine the effect of education given to parents of secondary school students about skin cancer, Skin Self Examination (SSE) and Sun Protection Behaviors on their children's sun protection behaviors.

Reducing Skin Cancer Risk in Childhood Cancer Survivors

The objective of this study is to determine the impact of a 12-month patient activation and education intervention on skin cancer early detection practices among childhood cancer survivors treated with radiation. This randomized controlled trial uses a three-group design. Our specific aims are to: (1) Determine the impact of a Patient Activation and Education intervention with and without physician activation and teledermatology on skin cancer early detection practices, (2) Determine the impact of the intervention on time to diagnosis, and (3) Estimate the cost and cost-effectiveness of the intervention as a secondary outcome.
