Multi-Centre Study to Assess the Long-term Performance of the DePuy ASR™ System in Resurfacing and Primary Total Hip Replacement

Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to monitor the performance of a large metal-on-metal bearing from the DePuy ASR™ System in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring hip resurfacing surgery or a total hip replacement. Patients who enter the study will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments. The Study was terminated with effect from 30th November 2011 following the completion of 2 year follow up assessments for those patients remaining in the study. Please note that prior to this decision DePuy voluntarily recalled the ASR products on 24 August 2010. Additional information regarding this voluntary recall and the follow-up of patients affected by the recall can be found at the following links http://www.mhra.gov.uk/Publications/Safetywarnings/MedicalDeviceAlerts/CON155761 and http://www.depuy.com/countries_list.

A Single Centre Study to Assess the Long-term Performance of the Pinnacle™ Cup With a Ceramic-on-ceramic Bearing in Primary Total Hip Replacement

Start date: January 2007
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to monitor the performance of the Pinnacle™ Cup with a ceramic-on-ceramic bearing combination in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring a total hip replacement. Patients who enter the study will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments.

NCT ID: NCT00872066 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

A Study to Assess the Long-term Performance of SmartSet® HV and SmartSet® GHV Bone Cements in Primary Total Hip Replacement

Start date: March 2006
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to monitor the performance of artificial hip joints implanted with two different bone cements, SmartSet® HV and SmartSet® GHV, in the treatment of patients with hip joint disease requiring a total hip replacement. Patients who enter the study will be randomly allocated to SmartSet® HV or SmartSet® GHV and will be evaluated at regular intervals following hip surgery using patient, clinical and x-ray assessments

NCT ID: NCT00871767 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

AZD5672 Bioavailability Study in Healthy Male and Female Subjects

Start date: March 2009
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to compare the blood levels achieved with a new formulation of AZD5672 to an existing formulation of AZD5672 used in previous studies

NCT ID: NCT00870467 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

A Study of Adalimumab in Japanese Subjects With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: March 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the potential of adalimumab to inhibit radiographic progression in joint destruction compared with placebo in adult Japanese subjects with recent onset of rheumatoid arthritis.

NCT ID: NCT00869349 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Living Well With Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of the Living Well with RA program is to perform a proof-of-concept study and evaluate the efficacy of an Internal Family Systems-based psychotherapeutic intervention improve Rheumatoid Arthritis subjects' disease activity, independence and other health outcomes. This study will also assess the efficacy of an IFS-based program in improving RA subjects' mental health symptoms. We hypothesize that the IFS model will improve RA subjects self-management of their disease and subsequently their health outcomes will improve as well as compared to a group focusing on arthritis education.

NCT ID: NCT00867256 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Cormet Large Diameter Metal on Metal (LDMOM) Total Hip System (G030265)

Start date: March 31, 2004
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To demonstrate the safety and efficacy of the Cormet Large Diameter Metal on Metal (LDMOM) Total Hip System using a composite clinical success (CCS) primary endpoint.

NCT ID: NCT00859859 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Vagus Nerve Stimulation in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Start date: October 2006
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to examine the short-term effects of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) by auricular stimulation (stimulation of the auricular branch of the vagus nerve which innervates the ear) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA is characterized by a chronic systemic inflammation affecting the joints but also carries an increased risk for extra-articular manifestations as well as other organ manifestations such as cardiovascular disease (CVD), which significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality in this disorder.

NCT ID: NCT00858780 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Study Comparing The Effect On Disease Activity When Reducing Or Discontinuing Etanercept In Subjects With RA

DOSERA
Start date: January 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This study involves Rheumatoid Arthritis patients in regular clinical setting who are already on etanercept treatment and are in remission or in a low disease activity (LDA) state, and is intended to identify parameters that can serve as guidance in clinical settings. This study will consider the clinical and radiographic course in subjects when etanercept treatment is tapered or discontinued, and analyze the subjects' experience of disease worsening and the predictive values of clinical parameters, serum biomarkers and imaging on the clinical and radiographic course in different treatment groups. The effect of re-treatment with etanercept at treatment failure will also be studied.

NCT ID: NCT00858169 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Assessment of Wrist Joint and Knee Joint Inflammation in Patients With Rheumatoid Arthritis by Quantitative Three Dimensional Power Doppler Ultrasonography

3D sono in RA
Start date: March 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this study is to: 1. To investigate the wrist joint synovial blood flow intensity and model by quantitative three-dimensional (3D) power Doppler ultrasonography (PDUS) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis before and after initiation of a new medicine and compare these data with routinely used clinical data and laboratory findings, such as pain score, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) 2. To investigate the intra-observer and inter-observer agreement of quantitative 3D PDUS assessment of the vascularity in wrist joints and knee joints using automatic volume scan.
