Efficiency of a Nurse-led Self-management Education Intervention in Promoting Safety Knowledge and Skills of Patients With Arthritis Treated Par Biologics

BIOSAFE
Start date: January 27, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background : Inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or spondyloarthritis (SpA) are painful chronic diseases which impair quality of life and work capacity. Biologics are very effective and widely used therapies. However, they are known to entail risks, particularly of infections. The risk of severe infections is of 5%/patient-year with a maximum during the first six month after the initiation of the first biologic therapy. Patient education (PE) is recommended for the management of chronic diseases. In the case of biologics, PE aims to help patients to learn specific skills particularly on safety issues, e.g stopping the biologic treatment in case of fever or surgery. Safety skills are assessed by the validated BIOSECURE questionnaire. PE seems efficient for safety skills in a few non-randomized studies. In 2010 a national cross sectional survey on 677 patients showed that the risk of incorrect answers in the BIOSECURE questionnaire was 4 times lower among patients who had benefited from an education by a nurse or other kind of educational process (OR =3,8 IC95% :[1,68-8,8]. Aims and Hypothesis: this trial aims to investigate the effects of a nurse-led self-management education face to face intervention on safety skills of patients with arthritis treated par sub cutaneous biologics. Our hypothesis is that the intervention group will report better skills at the 6 months follow up compared to usual care i.e information by the rheumatologist in current consultation. Methods : multicentric randomized controlled open trial with blinded assessment of the primary outcome. The intervention group will have a nurse education consultation at M 0 and M3 in addition to the usual care by the rheumatologist. The nurse will assess the patients' health beliefs and educational needs, focusing on safety skills, self-injections and motivation. The control group will have usual care by the rheumatologist.

Changes in Ultrasonographic Assessment of Inflammation Upon Initiation of Adalimumab Combination Therapy in Chinese Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Patients With Inadequate Response to Methotrexate

Start date: September 30, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Prospective, post-marketing, multi-center, open-label study to explore if the initiation of adalimumab could influence grey-scale (GS) and power Doppler (PD) ultrasonographic (US) score using 36-joint plus 4-tendon scoring system, and validate the applicability of different simplified US joint scoring systems.

NCT ID: NCT02775656 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

UCB Cimzia Pregnancy Follow-up Study

Start date: November 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of this observational follow-up study is to collect data systematically on pregnancies and offspring of women who become pregnant while participating in a Certolizumab Pegol (CZP) study or whose pregnancies have otherwise been reported to UCB due to potential CZP exposure during pregnancy.

NCT ID: NCT02722694 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

A Phase 3 Study of Abatacept in Chinese Patients With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis and Inadequate Response to Methotrexate

Start date: August 2016
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate superior efficacy of abatacept 125mg administrated SC weekly comparing to placebo after 24 weeks treatment in Chinese subjects who have active rheumatoid arthritis, are receiving methotrexate and experiencing an inadequate response to methotrexate. This will be estimated by the proportion of subjects meeting the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria for 20% improvement (ACR20).

NCT ID: NCT02698657 Completed - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

A Study to Assess the Safety, Tolerability, and Pharmacokinetics of ASP5094 Following Multiple Intravenous Doses in Subjects With Rheumatoid Arthritis on Methotrexate

Start date: February 23, 2016
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of multiple ascending intravenous doses of ASP5094 in male and female subjects with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on methotrexate (MTX).

NCT ID: NCT02541955 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Use of Acthar in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Related Flares

Start date: July 20, 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

This is a Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) study. The purpose of this research study is to determine in RA flare, whether musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) inflammatory scores and/or disease activity scores improve with Acthar treatment.

NCT ID: NCT02353780 Terminated - Clinical trials for Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Mechanistic Studies of B- and T-Cell Function in RA Patients Treated With TNF Antagonists, Tocilizumab, or Abatacept

MAZERATI
Start date: March 2015
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

An Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality executive summary indicated that better comparative effectiveness trial designs are needed to determine the relative merits of existing versus new and expensive biologic drug therapies for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). There are now 9 biologic therapies approved for treating RA. Four classes of biologics (TNF antagonists, B-cell inhibitors, T-cell co-stimulator blocker, and Interleukin-6 receptor blocker) are approved for use in RA patients with moderate or severe disease activity. Several critical questions have arisen, such as 1) what therapy should be prescribed after failure of methotrexate and/or other oral disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) to adequately control disease activity; 2) what is the level of efficacy of the various biologic therapies when compared in head-to-head trials; and 3) what are the mechanisms associated with failure of methotrexate and/or other oral DMARD therapy and responsiveness to biologic therapies. The MAZERATI study will provide the foundation for answering these questions and determining the mechanisms associated with these biologic therapies.

Start date: May 2014
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The primary objective of this study is to assess the safety and tolerability of a single dose of up to 800 mg in Part A (evaluated in planned steps of 5, 20, 50, 100, 200, 300 mg under fasted conditions, followed by 300, 400, 600 and 800 mg HMPL-523 under fed conditions of a standard meal, followed by multiple doses of 200, 300, 400 and 500 mg of HMPL-523 in Part B, in healthy male volunteers.
