NCT ID: NCT01302834 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Head and Neck Cancer

Radiation Therapy With Cisplatin or Cetuximab in Treating Patients With Oropharyngeal Cancer

Start date: June 2011
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Monoclonal antibodies, such as cetuximab, can block tumor growth in different ways. Some block the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Others find tumor cells and help kill them or carry tumor-killing substances to them. It is not yet known whether radiation therapy is more effective with cisplatin or cetuximab in treating oropharyngeal cancer. PURPOSE: This phase III trial is studying radiation therapy with cisplatin or cetuximab to see how well it works in treating patients with oropharyngeal cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00987857 Active, not recruiting - Esophageal Cancer Clinical Trials

Endoscopy Every 2 Years or Only as Needed in Monitoring Patients With Barrett Esophagus

Start date: March 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Screening tests may help doctors find cancer cells early and plan better treatment. It is not yet known whether endoscopy every 2 years is more effective than endoscopy only as needed in finding esophageal cancer in patients with Barrett esophagus. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying endoscopy every 2 years to see how well it works compared with endoscopy only as needed in monitoring patients with Barrett esophagus.

NCT ID: NCT00625066 Active, not recruiting - Colorectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Biological, Genetic, and Lifestyle Risk Factors for Developing Colorectal Adenomas or Polyps in Participants Undergoing Colonoscopy

Start date: January 1, 2003
Phase:
Study type: Observational

RATIONALE: Collecting and storing samples of tissue, blood, and other body fluids to test in the laboratory and gathering information about health and lifestyle from participants may help doctors learn more about cancer risk factors. PURPOSE: This clinical trial is looking at biological, genetic, and lifestyle risk factors for developing colorectal adenomas or polyps in participants undergoing colonoscopy.

NCT ID: NCT00468910 Active, not recruiting - Rectal Cancer Clinical Trials

Aspirin in Preventing Colorectal Cancer in Patients at Increased Risk of Colorectal Cancer

Start date: March 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase II trial is studying how well aspirin works in preventing colorectal cancer in patients at increased risk of colorectal cancer. Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of aspirin may prevent colorectal cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00357682 Active, not recruiting - Esophageal Cancer Clinical Trials

A Phase III, Randomized, Study of Aspirin and Esomeprazole Chemoprevention in Barrett's Metaplasia

AspECT
Start date: March 2005
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming, growing, or coming back. The use of esomeprazole and aspirin may prevent esophageal cancer in patients with Barrett's metaplasia. It is not yet known whether esomeprazole is more effective with or without aspirin in preventing esophageal cancer in patients with Barrett's metaplasia. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying esomeprazole with or without aspirin to compare how well they work in preventing esophageal cancer in patients with Barrett's metaplasia.

NCT ID: NCT00060099 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Precancerous Condition

SGN-00101 in Treating Patients With Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia

Start date: May 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development of or treat early cancer. SGN-00101 may be effective in preventing the development of cervical cancer in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well SGN-00101 works in preventing cervical cancer in patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and human papillomavirus.

NCT ID: NCT00006466 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell Neoplasm

Beta Alethine in Treating Patients With Myeloma

Start date: August 2000
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Biological therapies such as beta alethine use different ways to stimulate the immune system and stop cancer cells from growing. PURPOSE: Phase I/II trial to study the effectiveness of beta alethine in treating patients who have myeloma.

NCT ID: NCT00004036 Active, not recruiting - Lymphoma Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy Plus Amifostine in Treating Patients With Advanced Cancer

Start date: November 1997
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumors from dividing so they stop growing or die. Chemoprotective drugs, such as amifostine, may protect normal cells from the side effects of chemotherapy. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of amifostine plus combination chemotherapy in treating patients with advanced cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00002811 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Precancerous Condition

T4N5 Liposome Lotion Compared With Placebo Lotion for Preventing Actinic Keratoses in Patients With Xeroderma Pigmentosum

Start date: July 1996
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Patients with xeroderma pigmentosum are more likely to develop skin lesions in sun-affected areas. These skin lesions, such as actinic keratoses, can develop into skin cancer. T4N5 liposome lotion may reduce actinic keratoses or other sun-induced skin damage in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum. PURPOSE: Randomized double-blinded phase III trial to compare treatment using T4N5 liposome lotion with treatment using placebo in reducing actinic keratoses and other sun-induced skin damage in patients with xeroderma pigmentosum.
