Electromyographic Evaluation of Quadriceps During Eccentric Decline Squat

Start date: December 15, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Previous studies have generally investigated patellar tendon stiffness, cross-sectional area of patellar tendon, patellar tendon length, patellar force and patellafemoral forces during decline squat. However, there is just a few study about electromyographic (EMG) activity during the eccentric squating, which is about rectus femoris (RF) recruitment. In the present study the investigators primarly aimed to quantify the activation of RF, vastus lateralis (VL), and vastus medialis obliqus (VMO) during eccentric squat on different decline angle (0, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°). An additional purpose of our study was to compare the changes in muscle activation at various arc of knee flexion motion (degrees of 0-30, 30-60, 60-90, 0-60, 30-90, 0-90).The investigators hypothesised that the recruitment of RF, VL, and VMO during eccentric squat would differ according to decline angle and arc of motion.

NCT ID: NCT03694730 Completed - Clinical trials for Patellar Tendinopathy

Continued Activity During Rehabilitation in Patients With Patellar Tendinopathy

Start date: March 11, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This pilot study will evaluate the feasibility of pain-guided activity modification during rehabilitation for patellar tendinopathy. The information provided will be utilized to conduct a larger randomized clinical trial to determine if there is a difference in recovery from patellar tendinopathy during rehabilitation between individuals that use pain-guided activity modification and those that halt all painful activities. Recovery from patellar tendinopathy will be assessed using pain ratings, tendon-specific outcome measures, tendon structure, tendon mechanical properties, and muscle function.

NCT ID: NCT03454737 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Patellar Tendinopathy

Treatment of Refractory Patellar Tendinopathy With Mesenquimal Trunk Cells. Comparative Study With PRP.

TENDO
Start date: December 13, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This is a clinical trial, unicentric, prospective, controlled, randomized, double blind during the experimental phase A. In the experimental phase B, it is contemplated to administer the experimental treatment to the subjects included in the group treated with P-PRP in the event that the first treatment would be significantly more effective, both from a clinical and regenerative point of view

NCT ID: NCT03196063 Terminated - Clinical trials for Patellar Tendinopathy

Effectiveness of Two Exercise Protocols in the Treatment of Patients With Patellar Tendinopathy

Start date: July 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patellar tendinopathy is characterized by anterior pain in the knee, due to the great demand imposed on the extensor mechanism of the knee. Evidence shows that the most appropriate treatment for this condition is the conservative treatment, through strengthening with eccentric exercises. However, a recent editorial proposes a new treatment protocol based on concentric and eccentric exercises, with the initial prescription of isometric exercises. The hypothesis of this study is that the protocol is as good as the eccentric exercises, generating less pain.

NCT ID: NCT03096067 Completed - Clinical trials for Patellar Tendinopathy

Patellar Tendinopathy - The Effect of Load Magnitude in Exercise-based Treatment

Start date: March 29, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this project is to investigate if the magnitude of a loading based 12 weeks rehabilitation regime for patellar tendinopathy influence the clinical outcome, tendon structure and function. The investigators hypothesize that a greater magnitude (90% of 1RM) of loading will yield a more positive clinical outcome, tendon structure and function in patients with patellar tendinopathy compared to a lower magnitude of loading (55% of 1 RM) when total exercise volume is equal in both groups.

NCT ID: NCT02116946 Terminated - Clinical trials for Patellar Tendinopathy

Plasma Injections Plus Exercise for Patellar Tendinopathy

PHS
Start date: March 2014
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a randomized controlled clinical trial to investigate the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for treatment of patellar tendinopathy in adults 18-50 years of age. Subjects will be randomly assigned to three parallel treatment groups: 1. Leukocyte-rich PRP injection + exercise 2. Leukocyte-poor PRP injection + exercise 3. Saline injection + exercise (control) Primary endpoints are (1) the number (rate) and severity of adverse events as reported by both patients and study physicians during the first 12 weeks after initiation of treatment, (2) patient-rated tolerability of treatment; (3) the change in function (VISA score) and treatment success (global improvement scale) over six months of a post-injection exercise protocol.

NCT ID: NCT01460004 Completed - Clinical trials for Patellar Tendinopathy

The Effect of Infrapatellar Strap Treatment on Pain Extent and Athletic Measures in Young Athletes

Start date: January 2012
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is: - To examine the effect of infra patellar strap treatment on the extent of pain and jumping performance tasks in young male athletes diagnosed with patellar tendinopathy. - 40 elite male athletes, basketball and volleyball players, ages 14-18, students of the academy for sports Excellency will take part in this study - Hypothesis 1: The treatment of infra patellar strap will reduce the level of pain during jumping performance tasks. - Hypothesis 2: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the squat jump height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during squat jump task. - Hypothesis 3: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the drop jump height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during drop jump task. - Hypothesis 4: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the one leg jump height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during one leg jump task. - Hypothesis 5: The treatment of infra patellar strap will improve the 30 seconds repetitive jumps mean height in athletes with patellar tendinopathy during 30 seconds repetitive jumps task.
