Filter by:This research study was designed to determine the effectiveness of the drug, topotecan, given intravenously (into a vein) together with the drug gemcitabine in patients with recurrent platinum-sensitive ovarian, fallopian or primary peritoneal cancer, as well as tumors of mixed mullerian origin. Additional purposes are to determine the long term outcome and side effects of this combination treatment. Since topotecan and gemcitabine have different mechanisms of action, the combination of these 2 drugs may provide better results than either drug alone. Prior studies suggest that the combination of topotecan and gemcitabine improves the effects on the tumor and also appeared to be well tolerated.
This phase I trial is studying how well ipilimumab works after allogeneic stem cell transplant in treating patients with persistent or progressive cancer. Monoclonal antibodies can locate cancer cells and either kill them or deliver cancer-killing substances to them without harming normal cells.
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of polyglutamate paclitaxel when given together with carboplatin in treating patients with ovarian epithelial, peritoneal, or fallopian tube cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy such as polyglutamate paclitaxel and carboplatin use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Polyglutamate paclitaxel may be able to deliver the drug directly to tumor cells while leaving normal cells undamaged. Combining polyglutamate paclitaxel with carboplatin may kill more tumor cells.
The goal of this clinical research study is to find the highest safe dose of PS-341 that can be given with carboplatin chemotherapy as a treatment for patients with ovarian, abdominal, or fallopian tube cancer. Researchers also hope to find out if giving these drugs together will help shrink or slow the growth of tumors in patients who are considered resistant to platinum drugs. The safety of these drugs will also be studied.
The purpose of this study is to determine if the study drug pertuzumab is effective in treating patients with advanced ovarian cancer that is refractory to, or has recurred following, prior chemotherapy.
RATIONALE: Vaccines made from monoclonal antibodies combined with tumor cells may make the body build an immune response to kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: Randomized phase I trial to study the effectiveness of vaccine therapy in treating patients who have ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or peritoneal cancer.
RATIONALE: Screening tests may help doctors detect ovarian cancer early when the survival is much more encouraging. It is not yet known whether a CA125-based or ultrasound strategy is more effective in detecting ovarian cancer early thereby impacting on the mortality from the disease in postmenopausal women from the general population. PURPOSE: Randomized clinical trial to assess the impact of screening using a multimodal strategy using CA125 interpreted by the Risk of Ovarian Cancer Algorithm (ROCA) followed by transvaginal ultrasound as a second line test versus transvaginal ultrasound on mortality from the disease in postmenopausal women from the general population.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of topotecan in treating patients who have advanced ovarian epithelial, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer.
This study hopes to evaluate whether the combination of Gemzar plus Alimta will have any beneficial effects for patients with recurrent platinum-sensitive or platinum-resistant ovarian or peritoneal cancer. Treatments are weekly for two weeks, with the 3rd week off and will be repeated every 21 days. Side effects and the overall safety of the treatment will also be monitored and evaluated. In addition, a Quality of Life questionnaire is part of this study to help measure patient perceived benefits or drawbacks to this treatment regimen.
