Filter by:Background: Several randomized controlled trials have already investigated the efficacy of virtual reality treatment for chronic neck pain, however no study to date has investigated multimodal tele-rehabilitation, combining both specific neck exercises in immersive virtual reality and therapeutic education, in subjects with chronic non-specific neck pain. Objectives: The primary objective of this mixed-methods pilot study is to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of tele-rehabilitation combining immersive virtual reality exercises and therapeutic education in people with chronic non-specific neck pain. Secondary objectives are: 1) to investigate changes in clinical outcomes (range of motion, pain intensity, neck disability, illness perceptions, kinesiophobia, impression of change) ; 2) to explore the subjects' experience of tele-rehabilitation. Methods: The duration of the intervention will be 6 weeks, including 5 virtual reality sessions (15-20 minutes per session, without supervision of the physiotherapist) and 1 teleconsultation session with a physiotherapist (30 minutes per session) per week. Participants will be assessed quantitatively before and after the intervention, and qualitatively after the intervention. Discussion: Study findings will provide evidence concerning the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of multimodal tele-rehabilitation for chronic non-specific neck pain, using immersive virtual reality. This study may strengthen the scientific evidence for the use of immersive virtual reality at home in the treatment of chronic non-specific neck pain.
PURPOSE: The purpose of the present study is to investigate the benefit of applying dermoneuromodulation techniques in patients with non-specific chronic neck pain. BACKGROUND: Chronic neck pain is one of the most commonly reported musculoskeletal pathologies in the general population. It has an immense impact on the physical, social, and psychological aspects and quality of life of the individual and society as a whole. Dermoneuromodulation(DNM) is recently popularising touch based pain relieving approach which is a gentle, structured method of interacting with patient's nervous system to help them resolve pain, regain function, and feel better. It was developed by Diane Jacobs, a Canadian physiotherapist specialised in pain science and the treatment of painful conditions. During her 40 years of practice, Jacobs was interested in Ronald Melzack, who developed the original Gate Control theory of pain along with Patrick Wall, and who later developed the NeuroMatrix model of pain. In 2007, Jacobs made a cadaver study that defined how peripheral cutaneous nerves divide into rami, which spread outward into the underside of skin. This work inspired her to develop a new conceptual approach to manual therapy for patients with pain. HYPOTHESES We hypothesize that there will be no effect of dermoneuromodulation techniques on clinical outcomes of patients with non-specific chronic neck pain. RESEARCH QUESTION: Is there a statistically significant effect of dermoneuromodulation techniques on clinical outcomes of patients with non-specific chronic neck pain?
Exercise interventions are deemed essential for the effective management of patients with pain. Various therapy methods have been shown in the literature for pain and coping with pain. However, there is no study investigating the effectiveness of Basic Body Awareness Therapy in pain and coping with pain. In this respect, our study will contribute to the literature. The aim of our study is to compare the effectiveness of Basic Body Awareness Therapy and Therapeutic Exercises on pain coping strategies of Postmenopausal women.
The goal of this research is to investigate whether 2-4 weeks of augmented reality sensorimotor training induces positive changes so as to effect pain relief in patients with chronic neck pain. In addition, this study aims to determine if repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) delivered prior to augmented reality sensorimotor training enhances the benefits from the sensorimotor training. This study will also use a battery of questionnaires, functional assessments and electroencephalography markers to identify changes following the sensorimotor training that may be associated with benefits in pain symptoms. Before we embark on a larger study, we plan to investigate the feasibility of our study procedures in a feasibility study involving 40 patients.
According to the order of the physical examination, the scope of the problem is narrowed down by excluding the parts of the body that do not have problems and adjusting the load related to stability. A list of problems can be created through an algorithmic approach that guesses which structures will have problems through active or passive movement. This provides an optional therapeutic intervention.

Aim of the EndPaRL study is to compare the efficacy and effectiveness of the two techniques utilizing sharp straight conventional radiofrequency needle with a trident needle for radiofrequency neurotomy of Cervical Medial Branch Nerves (CMBNs), in patients presenting with chronic, moderate-to-severe, neck pain due to cervical zygapophyseal joint osteoarthritis, as diagnosed by positive responses to two consecutive diagnostic blocks with local anesthetic of the CMBN.
