TALON Ext
Start date: December 16, 2020
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this extension study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of brolucizumab used in a Treat-to-Control-regimen for treatment of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration who have completed the CRTH258A2303 (TALON) study. The main objective was to assess brolucizumab's potential for long durability up to 20 weeks. All eligible participants were treated with brolucizumab regardless of their treatment in the TALON study. The study period was 56 weeks including post-treatment follow-up.

NCT ID: NCT04594681 Terminated - Healthy Volunteers Clinical Trials

Start date: September 16, 2020
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety and tolerability after administration of KHK4951 in healthy volunteers and patients with wet age-related macular degeneration.

NCT ID: NCT04591483 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Stargardt-Like Macular Dystrophy

Stargardt-like Macular Dystrophy (STDG3) Secondary to Mutations in ELOVL4

Start date: April 19, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Background: STDG3 is an inherited eye disease. Currently there is no treatment for STDG3. Past studies of STDG3 have largely looked at members of large families at a single time point. Researchers want to learn more about the disease at an individual level. Objective: To understand the natural history of changes in the retina that occur in people with STDG3. Eligibility: People ages 10 and older with STDG3 due to a variant in the ELOVL4 gene. Design: Participants will have 6 visits. First they will have a screening visit, followed by a baseline visit. Then they will have a visit 6 months later. Then they will have a visit 1, 2, and 3 years after the first visit. Visits will last 4 to 8 hours. Visits will include the following: Medical history and physical exam. Complete eye exam. Participants' eye pressure and ability to see letters on a vision chart will be tested. Their pupils will be dilated with eye drops. Pictures will be taken of the retina and the inside of the eye. Questions about participants' family history, especially the presence of eye disease. Visual field test. Participants will be seated in front of a large dome and asked to press a button when they see a light within the dome. Electroretinogram. Participants will sit in the dark with their eyes patched for 30 minutes. Then they will wear special contact lenses and watch flashing lights. Optical coherence tomography. Cross-sectional pictures will be taken of participants' retinas. Fundus autofluorescence. Blue light will be shone into participants eyes to assess the health of the retina....

NCT ID: NCT04590196 Completed - Clinical trials for Age Related Macular Degeneration

Effect of Oral Curcumin Supplementation in Dry Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Patients

Start date: November 1, 2020
Phase: Early Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

Nutrition plays an important role in preventing progression of dry age related macular degeneration (AMD), a disease of aging that leads to drusen deposits in the macula causing significant decrease in vision. Drusen contains amyloid protein which is inhibited by curcumin, a natural plant based antioxidant. Oral Longvida curcumin has been shown to accumulate in the retina of human subjects within 10 days of supplementation. This study aims to investigate the duration of oral curcumin supplementation needed to see clinical impact in reducing volume and number of drusen and decreasing choriocapillaris density loss or flow impairment in dry AMD patients. Patients will be given a 12-month course of oral Longvida curcumin and clinical impact will be measured by multimodal retinal imaging (fundus photos, OCT and OCT-A) at day 0, month 3, month 6, and month 12 of supplementation. Previous small studies have shown change in drusen size within 4 6months of curcumin supplementation, given that drusen can naturally fluctuate in size, we want to have a longer study period with a control group to better understand the effects of curcumin on drusen characteristics.

Observational Study to Evaluate Fluid Resolution and Effectiveness in Patients Receiving Beovu in Neovascular Age-related Macular Degeneration and Visual Impairment Due to Diabetic Macular Edema

BLUE SKY
Start date: November 5, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is a prospective, non-interventional, multicenter, open-label study in nAMD and DME patients being treated with brolucizumab according to the EU SmPC. An observational study design, without a strict, mandated visit schedule or mandated treatment regimen was chosen as the most appropriate to collect available data in a real life setting. For that reason, this NIS does not impose a therapy protocol, diagnostic/therapeutic procedure or a visit schedule. The diagnostic or monitoring procedures are only those ordinarily applied to the therapeutic strategy and to routine clinical care and will take place as per investigator's discretion. This includes e.g. visit frequency, injection frequency and types of assessments performed - only data from routine medical practice will be collected as part of the study.
