Filter by:Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as FAU, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of FAU in treating patients with advanced solid tumors or lymphoma.
The most frequent cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL) are mycosis fungoid and Sezary syndrome. The diagnosis of these lymphomas is difficult using current methods, especially because numerous benign dermatological conditions can mimick CTCL both clinically and under microscopic examination. Recently, the KIR receptor CD158k has been shown to be a marker for Sezary syndrome in both the blood and skin. We hypothesize that other receptors from the same family may help fro the diagnosis of these lymphomas. To address this issue, we will study the expression of all known KIR receptor in the skin of patients presenting with a skin eruption, which may correspond to either a cutaneous T-cell lymphoma or a benign dermatological disease. The final diagnosis will be established by a panel of experts, allowing constitution of 2 groups of patients : the cutaneous T-cell lymphoma group, and the benign inflammatory disease group. The expression of the different KIRs will be analyzed in both group in a blinded fashion, in order to determine whether one or a several KIRs may be differentially expressed.

The purpose of this study is to examine reports of the cancer called hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma (HSTCL) in the Dutch National Database of Pathology (Pathologisch-Anatomisch Landelijk Geautomatiseerd Archief or PALGA) during the years 1995 to 2008.
This phase II trial is studying how well umbilical cord blood transplant from a donor works in treating patients with hematological cancer. Giving chemotherapy and total-body irradiation (TBI) before a donor umbilical cord blood transplant helps stop the growth of cancer and abnormal cells and helps stop the patient's immune system from rejecting the donor's stem cells. When the healthy stem cells from an unrelated donor, that do not exactly match the patient's blood, are infused into the patient they may help the patient's bone marrow make stem cells, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Sometimes the transplanted cells from a donor can make an immune response against the body's normal cells (called graft-versus-host disease). Giving cyclosporine and mycophenolate mofetil before and after transplant may stop this from happening.
Background: - The T-Cell Project, sponsored by the International T-cell non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Study Group, is a consortium of institutions interested in achieving more detailed information on clinical and biological characteristics of T-cell lymphomas. - The T-Cell Project serves as a repository for data on patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) worldwide. Its overall goal is to improve T-cell subtype classifications and evaluate treatment strategies for each subtype. Objectives: -To implement a standardized epidemiologic questionnaire into the ongoing T-Cell Project to allow evaluation of various potential risk factors for PTLCs. Eligibility: -Untreated patients 18 years of age and older who were diagnosed with PTLC September 1, 2006, or later. Design: -Patients complete a questionnaire containing the following information: Demographic information Smoking history and alcohol use Personal history or cancer History of cancer among first-degree relatives Medical history History of transplants History of blood transfusions Medication use Occupational and residential history Pesticide treatment -The information collected is linked to clinical and pathologic information in the T-Cell Project database.
This is an open-label, multicenter, phase 1 study of MLN8237 in participants with advanced hematological malignancies for whom there are limited standard treatment options.
The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the overall response rate to imatinib mesylate in participants with relapsed or refractory T cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. This drug has been used in chronic myeloid leukemia and information from those other research studies suggests that it may help to treat T cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and bexarotene, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving more than one drug (combination chemotherapy) may kill more cancer cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying giving gemcitabine together with bexarotene to see how well it works in treating patients with progressive or refractory stage IB, stage II, stage III, or stage IV cutaneous T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
