NCT ID: NCT00077311 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Docetaxel and Cisplatin With or Without Dimesna in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: August 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Chemoprotective drugs, such as dimesna, may help prevent or decrease the side effects (such as nerve, kidney, and inner ear damage) caused by chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying giving docetaxel and cisplatin together with dimesna to see how well it works compared to giving docetaxel and cisplatin alone in treating patients with stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00077246 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

ABI-007 in Treating Patients With Chemotherapy-Naïve Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: September 2003
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as ABI-007, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects and best dose of ABI-007 and to see how well it works in treating patients with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00077220 Active, not recruiting - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Paclitaxel, Carboplatin, and Radiation Therapy With or Without Adjuvant Paclitaxel and Carboplatin in Treating Patients With Stage II or Stage III Unresectable Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: June 2002
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as paclitaxel and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. It is not yet known whether giving chemotherapy together with radiation therapy is more effective with or without adjuvant chemotherapy in treating unresectable stage II or stage III non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying giving paclitaxel, carboplatin, and radiation therapy together with adjuvant paclitaxel and carboplatin to see how well it works compared to giving paclitaxel, carboplatin, and radiation therapy alone in treating patients with unresectable stage II or stage III non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00077064 Terminated - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Captopril in Treating Patients With Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer or Limited-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer That Has Been Previously Treated With Radiation Therapy With or Without Chemotherapy

Start date: June 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Captopril is a drug that may be able to decrease side effects caused by radiation therapy, and may improve the quality of life of patients with non-small cell lung cancer or limited-stage small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase II trial is studying how well captopril works in decreasing side effects and improving the quality of life in patients who have received radiation therapy with or without chemotherapy for stage I, stage II, or stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer or limited-stage small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00076388 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-Small-Cell Lung Carcinoma

Iressa Versus Docetaxel (Taxotere)

Start date: February 2004
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of ZD1839 or docetaxel in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has recurred or progressed after receiving prior treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT00075751 Completed - Clinical trials for Stage IV Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Gemcitabine, Carboplatin, and Bortezomib in Advanced or Recurrent Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: January 2004
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of combining bortezomib with gemcitabine and carboplatin in treating patients who have advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer that has not been previously treated with chemotherapy. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Bortezomib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking the enzymes necessary for their growth. Bortezomib may also help gemcitabine and carboplatin kill more tumor cells by making the cells more sensitive to the drugs

NCT ID: NCT00075699 Completed - Clinical trials for Malignant Mesothelioma

Active Symptom Control With or Without Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma

Start date: September 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Active symptom control may decrease chest pain, breathlessness, sweating, and general discomfort in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. It is not yet known if active symptom control is more effective with or without chemotherapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying active symptom control and chemotherapy to see how well they work compared to active symptom control alone in treating patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma.

NCT ID: NCT00075517 Active, not recruiting - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Gemcitabine and Docetaxel in Treating Patients With Inoperable Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: September 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and docetaxel, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Giving more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving gemcitabine together with docetaxel works in treating patients with inoperable stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00075426 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Arsenic Trioxide in Treating Patients With Locally Advanced or Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: November 2002
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as arsenic trioxide, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well arsenic trioxide works in treating patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00075374 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Two Regimens of Docetaxel in Treating Patients Who Have Not Received Chemotherapy For Unresectable Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: October 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as docetaxel, use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. It is not yet known which docetaxel regimen is more effective for non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to compare the effectiveness of two regimens of docetaxel in treating patients who have not previously received chemotherapy for unresectable stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
