NCT ID: NCT00793208 Terminated - Clinical trials for Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

Immunization of Patients With Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

The study of the vaccine will proceed in two stages after the method of Simon (102). In the first stage, 15 patients will be accrued and treated. If two or fewer objective immunologic responses occur, the study will be terminated. If 3 or more responses are observed, the study will proceed to the second stage, accruing an additional 22 patients. If the second stage is complete and a total of 9 or more immunologic responses are observed among the 37 patients treated, the treatment response rate for the vaccine will be considered high enough to warrant further study. Conversely, if the evaluation of the vaccine concludes at the first stage, or if 8 or fewer total immunologic responses occur after completing the second stage, the vaccine will not be considered for further study.

NCT ID: NCT00792701 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

S0720: Adjuvant Therapy Based on Gene Expression in Stage IA and IB Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as gemcitabine and cisplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving chemotherapy drugs after surgery may kill any tumor cells that remain after surgery. Sometimes, after surgery, the tumor may not need more treatment until it progresses. In this case, observation may be sufficient. PURPOSE: This phase II trial is studying how well giving gemcitabine together with cisplatin works in treating patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer that was removed by surgery.

NCT ID: NCT00791154 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

QUILT-2.013: A Trial of AMG 479 or AMG 102 in Combination With Platinum-based Chemotherapy as First-Line Treatment for Extensive Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This trial is titled "A Phase 1b/2 trial of AMG 479 or AMG 102 with Platinum-Based Chemotherapy as First-Line Treatment for Extensive Stage Small-Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC)." Part 1, the phase 1b portion of this study, is a multicenter, open-label investigation to identify safe dose levels of either AMG 102 or AMG 479 in combination with etoposide plus cisplatin or carboplatin in subjects with previously untreated extensive stage SCLC. Part 2, the phase 2 portion of this study, is a multicenter, double-blind, 3-arm investigation to evaluate overall survival of either AMG 102 or AMG 479 in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT00790569 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Varenicline or Nicotine Patch and Nicotine Gum in Helping Smokers in a Methadone Treatment Program Stop Smoking

Start date: September 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Varenicline, the nicotine patch, and nicotine gum help people stop smoking. It is not yet known whether varenicline is more effective than the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers quit smoking. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying varenicline to see how well it works compared with the nicotine patch given together with nicotine gum in helping smokers in a methadone treatment program stop smoking.

NCT ID: NCT00789373 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

A Study of Induction and Maintenance Treatment of Advanced Non-squamous Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will compare progression-free survival in patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. Patients who do not progress following 4 cycles of induction treatment with pemetrexed and cisplatin will be randomized 2:1 to receive either maintenance pemetrexed or placebo.

NCT ID: NCT00787410 Completed - Mesothelioma Clinical Trials

An Open-label, Phase II Trial of ZD1839 (IRESSA) in Patients With Malignant Mesothelioma

Start date: September 2003
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study is a multicentre, open label, non-comparative, two stage phase II trial to assess the activity of ZD1839 (IRESSA) in patients with malignant mesothelioma. Patients will receive trial treatment as first-line therapy, administered continuously once daily until the completion of six 4-week cycles of treatment, disease progression, unacceptable toxicity or withdrawal of consent. Patients continuing to show evidence of response, disease stabilization or clinical benefit from ZD1839 may continue to receive therapy beyond completion of the trail.

NCT ID: NCT00787267 Terminated - Clinical trials for Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

Phase II Study of Dasatinib in Previously Treated Patients With Advanced NSCLC

TOP0801
Start date: September 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

On this study patients will receive dasatinib, a targeted therapy, for advanced NSCLC that has progressed after previous therapy. Safety and response to dasatinib will be assessed. Fresh frozen tumor tissue must be available for genomics analysis prior to initiating dasatinib therapy. A biopsy must be obtained after any prior chemotherapy. If fresh frozen tumor tissue is not available, a biopsy will be required to participate in this trial.

NCT ID: NCT00784329 Withdrawn - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Pilot Study To Evaluate Optical Frequency Domain Imaging For Diagnosis Of Central Airway Disease

Start date: March 2008
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the potential of a new imaging device, termed Optical Frequency Domain Imaging (OFDI), in the early diagnosing of pulmonary malignancies in the central airways.

NCT ID: NCT00783705 Completed - Clinical trials for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Inositol in Preventing Lung Cancer in Current or Former Smokers With Bronchial Dysplasia

Start date: November 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This randomized phase II trial is studying inositol to see how well it works compared with a placebo in preventing lung cancer in current or former smokers with bronchial dysplasia. Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs to keep cancer from forming. The use of inositol may prevent lung cancer. It is not yet known whether inositol is more effective than a placebo in preventing lung cancer in smokers with bronchial dysplasia.
