This clinical trial studies deuterated phenanthrene tetraol in smokers who are at high risk for lung cancer. Studying samples of urine in the laboratory from smokers who are at high risk for lung cancer may help doctors learn more about biomarkers related to cancer.
The purpose of this study is to learn more about using a home machine "Telemonitor" to find problems people with lung cancer may have after being discharged from the hospital and help them manage problems by contacting their healthcare provider.The study hypothesis is that patients with lung CA using short-term (14 days)home telemonitors, educated/coached by nurses on telemonitor data risks/implications for the first two weeks after hospital discharge, will be able to self-report their signs/ symptoms to the clinician resulting in decreased use of costly health care resources over 60 days.
This phase I trial is studying the side effects and best dose of photodynamic therapy using HPPH in treating patients with lung cancer. Photodynamic therapy uses a drug, such as HPPH, that becomes active when it is exposed to a certain kind of light. When the drug is active, cancer cells are killed.
This open-label, multi-center study will evaluate the progression-free survival and safety of erlotinib in participants with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer with activating mutations in the tyrosine kinase domain of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Participants will receive daily oral doses of erlotinib until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity.
The purpose of phase 2 of this this study is to estimate the treatment effect of study drug measuring progression free survival.
This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of exemestane in combination with pemetrexed disodium and carboplatin in treating post-menopausal women with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. Exemestane may stop the growth of tumor calls by blocking some of the enzymes need for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as pemetrexed disodium and carboplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving exemestane together with pemetrexed disodium and carboplatin may kill more tumor cells
This prospective, multicenter observational study will evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of Tarceva (erlotinib) as second-line treatment in patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who have progressed after pemetrexed-containing first-line chemotherapy. Eligible patients will be followed until withdrawal of consent, lost-to-follow-up, or study termination, whichever occurs first.
Because ALK-positive lung cancer constitutes less than 5% of all lung cancers, it is critically important to select those patients who are more likely to have the ALK mutation. Clinical characteristics of patients with mutations in the target gene should also be known, so that the incidence of a given target mutation is established in a specific population. There is not incidence known in Mexican population, but it is believed it is greater.
This observational study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Tarceva (erlotinib) in second line in patients with locally advanced or metastatic squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after failure of first line platinum-based chemotherapy. Eligible patients will be followed for 12 months.
