NCT ID: NCT00009971 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Fenretinide in Treating Patients With Recurrent Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: November 2000
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of fenretinide in treating patients who have recurrent small cell lung cancer. Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die.

NCT ID: NCT00009789 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Stage I Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer And Lung Dysfunction

Start date: December 2000
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of specialized high-dose radiation therapy in treating patients who have stage I non-small cell lung cancer and lung dysfunction.

NCT ID: NCT00008385 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Selenium in Preventing Tumor Growth in Patients With Previously Resected Stage I Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: December 18, 2000
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Chemoprevention therapy is the use of certain drugs to try to prevent the development or recurrence of cancer. It is not yet known if selenium is effective in preventing the growth of new tumors in patients with previously resected non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying selenium to see how well it works compared to a placebo in preventing the development of second primary lung tumors in patients who have undergone surgery to remove stage I non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00008372 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Chloroquinoxaline Sulfonamide in Treating Patients With Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: December 2000
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of chloroquinoxaline sulfonamide in treating patients who have small cell lung cancer that has not responded to platinum-based chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT00008333 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Vinorelbine in Treating Older Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: April 2001
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop cancer cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of vinorelbine taken by mouth in treating older patients who have stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00008255 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

INS316 in Diagnosing Lung Cancer in Patients With Untreated Lung Cancer

Start date: August 2000
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Doctors can diagnose lung cancer by collecting mucus coughed up from the lungs and examining it under a microscope to look for cancer cells. Breathing in INS316 may make it easier for patients to cough up mucus. PURPOSE: Randomized phase II trial to study the effectiveness of INS316 in helping to diagnose lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00006981 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Immunotoxin Therapy in Treating Patients With Advanced Cancer

Start date: December 2000
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Immunotoxins can locate tumor cells and kill them without harming normal cells. Immunotoxin therapy may be an effective treatment for advanced cancer. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of immunotoxins in treating patients who have advanced cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00006877 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Temozolomide in Treating Patients With Metastatic Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: July 2000
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. PURPOSE: Phase II trial to study the effectiveness of temozolomide in treating patients who have metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00006487 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

S0004: Combination Chemotherapy Plus Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Limited-stage Small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: October 2000
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to damage tumor cells. Combining more than one chemotherapy drug with radiation therapy may kill more tumor cells. PURPOSE: Phase I trial to study the effectiveness of combination chemotherapy plus radiation therapy in treating patients who have limited-stage small cell lung cancer.

NCT ID: NCT00006484 Completed - Lung Cancer Clinical Trials

Combination Chemotherapy With or Without Tirapazamine in Treating Patients With Stage IIIB or Stage IV Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Start date: November 2000
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

RATIONALE: Drugs used in chemotherapy use different ways to stop tumor cells from dividing so they stop growing or die. Combining more than one drug may kill more tumor cells. It is not yet known which combination chemotherapy regimen is more effective for non-small cell lung cancer. PURPOSE: Randomized phase III trial to compare the effectiveness of carboplatin plus paclitaxel with or without tirapazamine in treating patients who have stage IIIB or stage IV non-small cell lung cancer.
