Filter by:The study is a prospective, multi-center, randomized blinded study to determine how repairing the subscapularis vs. not repairing the subscapularis when subjects are implanted with the AltiVate Reverse® Shoulder System for reverse total shoulder arthroplasty affects isometric and isokinetic internal rotational strength. It is hypothesized that patients in which the subscapularis is repaired will have improved postoperative isometric and isokinetic internal rotational strength.
The goal of the current study is to objectively measure intraoperative the initial thumb stability after trapezium removal when performing trapeziectomy, alone or in combination with suspension and tendon interposition and to evaluate if there are differences in the stability between the patients and with the different surgical steps. Additionally, the subjective stability rating of the surgeon will be compared with the objective measures and if there is a correlation between clinical/patient-related parameters and the measured intraoperative stability.
mixing the magnesium sulfate with dextrose for management of tmj pain will be studied using intra-articular injection of the solution
Ankle arthritis is associated with debilitating pain and chronic disability. For the treatment of severe ankle arthritis, total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) is one treatment option. Postoperative pain management in joint arthroplasty is an ongoing and relevant issue. The purpose of this study is to examine if differences exist in postoperative pain control, overall patient satisfaction, and use of narcotics using an intra-articular injection in the operating room compared with a peripheral nerve block in patients undergoing TAA.
To compare the functional outcomes of Computer-Assisted Navigation (CAS) and Conventional Instrumentation TKA at the 8-year follow-up.
Virtual reality has been used for acute pain management (burn patients) with positive results. Hypnosis has known beneficial effects on patients in the peri-operative setting. The investigators are combining both by giving a virtual reality hypnosis (VRH) session to the patients during a known painful post-operative moment. (physiotherapy) It is the investigator intention to compare pain after physiotherapy during the first 3 days after a total knee arthroplasty, between 2 groups. One group , the VR group gets standard treatment with VRH and the second, the sham group, gets standard treatment with a sham VR session.
all patients with a first anterior arthroplasty, give their informed consent to be randomized to control or study protocol. control means no high steroid dose, opioids for anesthesia; paracetamol, NSAIDs and opioids as analgesia. study protocol means methylprednisolone 125 mg and opioid free anesthesia followed by paracetamol, NSAIDs and if needed opioids as escape.
The objective of this study is to determine if peripheral nerve block with liposomal bupivacaine in combination with standard bupivacaine will prolong the duration of block, improve pain scores, and decrease opioid utilization in the post-operative period when compared to peripheral nerve block with standard bupivacaine alone.
Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA) was introduced to attempt to enhance the precision of bone preparation, component alignment and ultimately improve clinical results and survivorship of TKA. Although several published data suggest that bone preparation, and knee component alignment were improved by using robotic assistance, there is no high-quality evidence from randomized trials at long-term of which investigators are aware evaluating whether the improved bone preparation and knee component alignment improved clinical function or longevity of the TKA.
The aim of this study is to clinically assess the efficacy of PRP prolotherapy for treatment of TMJ subluxation
