NCT ID: NCT06256679 Completed - Clinical trials for Interstitial Cystitis, Chronic

RADIOFREQUENCY TREATMENT OF CHRONIC PELVIC PAIN MANAGEMENT IN INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS

Start date: December 27, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome is a collection of symptoms that includes urinary urgency, urge incontinence, nocturia, and painful urination. Various treatment modalities are utilized in the management of the disease. Superior hypogastric plexus block, which is used in the treatment of chronic pelvic pain, is one of these treatment methods. Additionally, tibial nerve stimulation is used in the treatment of urinary symptoms. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of superior hypogastric plexus pulsed radiofrequency and adjunctive transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation in the treatment of patients with interstitial cystitis

NCT ID: NCT04275297 Completed - Clinical trials for Interstitial Cystitis

Optimizing Psychosocial Treatment of Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome

Start date: July 13, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a severe pain condition affecting 3-8 million people in the United States lacking treatments that work. Emotional suffering is common in IC/BPS and known to make physical symptoms worse, and studies show patient sub-groups respond differently to treatment. By creating and testing a psychosocial intervention specific to IC/BPS, we will learn if this intervention improves patient wellness, who the intervention works best for, and how the body's pain processing influences outcomes.

Clinical Features and Histologic Findings in Bladder Pain Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis

HistologyIC
Start date: July 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Objectives- to find out whether a correlation exists between denudation of urothelium and diagnosic delay in patients with BPS / IC, secondary aim was to search a correlation between impact of symptoms evaluated with ICSI-ICPI and number of comorbid conditions associated with BPS-IC. Patients and Methods- Fifty-seven consecutive patients underwent cystoscopy under anaesthesia to classify those cases suspected of BPS/IC. As for the evaluation of the ICSI-ICPI scores we considered significant relevant values those ≥ 12. Patients underwent cystoscopy with hydrodistension under general (90%) or locoregional anaesthesia. Bladder biopsies were taken, including detrusor muscle, from those areas with the most apparent bladder wall lesions. All biopsies were then fixed in 4% formalin and sent to the Pathologist for examination.
